And you lost your heating function too? Hrm...



Maybe going with CF trim for that cover for steering wheel upper, would make it look flushed, if the decor trim cover for steering wheel ever get upgraded.

No I didn't, I didn't loose anything. I just cut off a couple of plastic pieces from the trim that came with the kit as they were getting in the way because I had cables routed behind the trim. Nothing that is OEM was damaged/modified so I can go back or just get the proper plastic trim in the future and re-install.

I whipped off the airbag this afternoon and the trim on my 22 has long fixing tabs. So it’s safe to say that despite what AE sellers say a 3 series kit will work but the trim isn’t correct. I think the kit will work on any G series but despite steering wheels looking the same the internals aren’t.

I wonder if it’s just steering wheels with ACC and heating that get the long fixing tabs?

Yes, exactly. ACC and heating steering wheel has a lot more stuff inside: heating elements, hand detection sensors, vibration etc etc. I suspect that affects what kind of cover goes with it. Also long fixing tabs is not the only difference, just the most visible one. Almost all small tabs that goes at the top edge and connect with the front silver trim are different.

TL/DR: when ordering m1/m2 buttons pop off your airbag and make sure that you will get correct plastic trim. Electronic is all the same

Looking at realoem, there is only "one" variant of cover for steering wheel, upper trim for each g01 and f97,

g01 - 32307856289 (shared with g30)
f97 - 32307856293 (shared with f90)

So if you are getting g20, then you are sol.

Common denominator is the 5 series g30/f90 between g01 and f97.

Did anyone see there is a toggle switch in the module that goes into the center shifter area, it says G05 <-> G38 i tried switching doesnt seem to make anyt difference.

Ok i installed mine successfully, where do you guys put all the wires / module in the center, do i have to open the center storage and put it in there?

also looks like this device throws an error in Ista, not on the dash

Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the “easy entry” feature that comes as a “bonus” with this kit? It works very bad for me, seat slides out with huge delay and most of the time I am already out of the car when it does, but slides in immediately when I open the door, making it absolutely useless. And what is worse is that it doesn’t always return to where it was, often times I need to push seat memory button to get it right. Buttons themselves are perfect, but this easy entry drives me nuts

for me it works as its supposed to be i guess, when i open the door, the seat moves back, when i get in the car and turn it on, then the seat goes back to its position. seems to match the memory settings.

Also if windows are down and sunroof open, everything closes when car is powered off and door is opened.

there is a toggle switch inside the module to represent g05 and g38, but i dont see any difference in functionality from the two switch positions.

the error i was getting in ISTA went away, but yes the buttons look amazing and love the functionality

I’ve ordered this kit from the link provided and the seller has assured me it is with the long clips. It’s currently awaiting customs clearance (I’m expecting import tax to be applied) so I should be getting this in a few days and will confirm for you.

But i decided to return mine, the moving seat back and closing windows is a pain in the ass.

Also its a real pain to get all the wires in the steering wheel, i found my horn wouldn't press down as it does originally from the bottom

There seems to be several variants, at least on aliexpress, and depending on seller in terms of m1/m2 functionality, "varies" on exactly what these two button cycles through. For certain drive mode changes is given, but what the m2 cycles varies. Get the one that where both m1/m2 cycles "just" the drive modes, and not the other cap like window up/down, seat adjustments, those are "useless", IMHO.

My kit arrived today. Unfortunately got stung for import tax / VAT which was just over £62

There were no instructions in the box, I’ve messaged the seller for some. All the YouTube videos I’ve seen on installing these shows two bare wires that have to be re pinned in the centre console area. This kit has 3 bare wires. Anyone that’s fitted this give some instal advice please?
