It's really fun to DIY swap the taillights haha, hope can help these pre-LCI owners who wants to do the same upgrade!

I'm guessing that now that people know that the new taillights can be retrofitted onto 20s and 21s, some haters of the new lights will magically start liking them 😁

I kid, I kid, don't get mad at me.

Hi guys, I got the codes from my trusted dealer, external parts: 63219463047-63219463048, internal parts: 63219463051-63219463054.
At the moment, however, the pieces cannot yet be ordered in Europe 😑

Well this is interesting, it's running S15A-21-07-520. It's definitely an LCI from the picture, but I would have expected this to be on SP18, so a S18A software release.....

Both S15A-21-07-530.

The is incredibly interesting, as it would suggest that the "new" features, like Remote Software Upgrade, Drive Recorder, Remote Start etc are not locked to SP2018 cars via hardware, like it was suggested.

I'm going to dig into some of the other ECUs to see if there's parts differences pre and post LCI.....

[EDIT] - Yes, the Body Domain Controller is a completely different part.

Have you got the BDC-partnumber? Got it replaced last month, so I’m curious if it might be the new part.

It won't be, the LCI has a BDC3, whereas the pre-LCI has a BDC2 looking at the parts. There's a few difference ones based on configurations

We can't even get rear DRL running with the original lights...

Would Remote Start be codable for LCI cars in the UK?

Probably still not, as it's be the Body Domain Controller that has some involvement in this. !

FYI,G30 LCI also belongs to SP2015 and they got BDC3 with RSU/5AU Driving Assistant and Remote Engine Start. For G01 LCI I believe it's the same, still SP2015 but with new BDC and kafas modules. Service Pack will only change when G01 reach the end of its lifecycle and start with SP2021 maybe?

Sorry for not being clear, the LCI taillight also cannot have DRL in Auto light switch position, you have to switch it one click left to make "DRL" work manually.

Remote Start is a feature which requires fsc certificate to be functional, the cert is registered in your DME with a certain AppID,you can read it using E-Sys. It cannot be enabled with CAFD coding, you'll have to purchase it when placing your order or subscribe in My BMW app and wait for the server to register your car.
