Anyone with this issue?

I had that.

Fixed it by toggling that switch on the receiver box thats installed under the gear lever.

I think it's labelled G05 in one position, and G38 in the other position, I can't recall exactly, but I flipped that from it's default position to the other position and after that, no more having to press M1 twice to activate sport mode.

Although doing that does mean that you can't use m1/m2 buttons to access adaptive mode if your car has that.

Mine does not have a toggling switch.

Hey guys, I’m currently attempting this mod. I’m a little nervous about removing pin 12 on the ignition wiring harness. Is it easy to reverse this modification if necessary?

Also how do you remove the purple connector below the i-drive scroll wheel? There is no room to get a flathead screwdriver in there and the connector is locked in with a one way clip. The YouTube video I watched skipped over this step which is funny.

Does anyone know if a G80 steering wheel is a direct swap on the X3 m40i

If you get the complete wheel with all trims etc then it will bolt on to the steering column yes, but if you just get the skeleton your existing trims won't fit on the G80 wheel.

Not sure if the airbag is the same.

The X3 wheel is the same as the g30, g05, g06, g07 etc and the higher G series. 3/4/1/2 series wheel is slightly different hence the trims don't fit (without modification).

Were you able to figure out how to remove the connector? My M1/M2 is arriving so just curious if you manage to have it installed and how did it go?
