From a stop and and abrupt turn it would make a noise which sounds like like a fog horn. Not loud just for a sec and goes away. Not metal grinding. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow just wondering if any fellow G01 owners have something similar.

I have a similar noise that happens at very low speeds, I think it might be coming from the brake rotors, though, on the drivers side. Sounds like some low frequency vibration, possibly from an irregularity on the disc. Not sure if that might be the same thing. I don't notice anything different when I am turning.

Interesting. I'm honestly not sure what it is. I have no issues with the brakes/noise during normal driving. The noise only happens at very low speeds, e.g. < 2mph, usually when turning at any degree in a parking lot.
Noise does not happen when driving on roads, or if stationary, when turning the wheel. The previous poster was spot on that on that it sounds like a fog horn, or very low hum, that usually lasts for a second or so. I'm not sure if the noise is heard outside the car as well. I also feel like I can feel it in the steering wheel when it happens. Noise happens regardless of wheels and tires. I'll have to have the dealer take a look. |

No they told me to video it. I can't make it occur it's random. It's like power steering with old belts.

I've complained to the dealer and they can't replicate it either. It's hard to take a video of it of course because it's pretty random as you said. Here's one I took but the sound is quite faint. I'll need to try and get a better sound on video. |

I have the same sound, and it becomes louder. I've been experiencing this problem for 2 years and I still don't know the reason of it. Have you solved this problem? Anyone?) |

Nope, but I'll raise it again when I go into service in a few months. I've recorded a bunch of videos now so they don't have any excuse to say there's nothing wrong when there's obviously something wrong. I have a 2019 so yes, it's also been 2 years.

Okay, so yesterday I got to dealer and they told me, this might be a problem with Gear camshaft. When it is heated, this strange howl appears on the first gear. I have this sound on a speed 0-10 km/h, especially while driving in a traffic jam. But they need to check it, so I leave my car next week, I will update the situation when it's done.

We had a similar issue with a 2019 X5, a groaning type noise when turning left, both when stopped, or at low speeds, like in a parking lot. Could not hear it going faster probably due to road and wind noise. Took it to dealer, they wound up replacing a number of the left front suspension components and bushings. Said they had similar complaints from others, may have been a batch of bad parts or bushings.

May have found the answer to this noise - faulty caliper piston
I've been having this problem for about 9 months or so. Thought it was the stock summer rims/tires combo as noise disappeared when I put my 19" winters on, and it reappeared this spring when the summers went back on. Brought it to the dealer 5 times and they could never recreate it, and despite listening to the videos I had taken, didn't really seem to have much clue.
Finally I realized that it only happened after driving the car 10-15 minutes, so definitely heat related. And with it being worse when turning left, had be in the front and maybe steering related. Got them to drive my car right after I arrived so the car was hot and they could hear it. Here's what they found: one of the pistons on the driver's side front brake caliper wasn't retracting fully and so occasionally when the brakes heated up, the pad would rub a bit on the disc. And the retracting fault was intermittent. The sound has been getting progressively worse and more frequent, it would seem as the seal to the piston was broken and so it was loosing hydraulic pressure and getting contaminated. In any event, they've ordered a new caliper for me, so when it comes in and gets installed I'll let y'all know if this indeed fixes the problem! |

anyone remove their front brake pads and apply the red or blue rubbery anti-squeal to the backs of the pads? This type of noise is the pad rapidly vibrating when very lightly pressed against disc. usually it is piston-pad squeal. I find the rubber stuff to quiet all manner of brake noise including the rude release sound you get when first taking off. Works far better and more reliably than anti- squeal shims. BTW the piston don’t really retract much they just stop squeezing.
