In Middle of Install _ AA Cat'd Downpipes & AA Resonated Midpipe

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
In the middle of installing AA Cat'd downpipes and the AA resonated midpipe.

Honestly not a job I would like to do again LOL. I am using a friends lift, and have the stock cats and midpipe removed.

Those who have done this, have did you all get new V Band Clamps, and the "donut" gaskets at each end of the cats?

The below is what I think is #2 on the Realoem detail part #18307553601. This is correct right? Did you guys replace this? The V Band too? Not trying to cheap out (or have an exhaust leak) but trying to get the car of my buddies lift. And with the holiday I can't even get these next day aired till Thursday at best.

The 2nd set of donuts (cat to midpipe #8 below part# 18308053348) I do plan to change (an can do down the road if necessary because they are easier to get to. But I will keep you guys updated as the install goes.

Thanks!

Thanks. I don't remember replacing the V band when I did the cat on my M2. But I do remember the "donut" at the V band falling out when i got it apart.

Referencing the 1st photo in the above post, that is a donut/gasket where the screwdriver is, right? Just need to grab a pick and pry it out?

Yeah I think i will pass on new V bands.

Again thanks for any help.

I will follow up with more details about this install when i get it back together.

I follow up with all the mistakes i made in hopes that it will help others.

Did you go with the heat shield on the catted DP, or skip? Wondering if it’s necessary.

Please share sound clips once you’re done, thanks

No heat shield. Can’t imagine trying to snake both of these cats up with a heat shield on them.

Yeap will get some sound when done.
Thanks

That gasket usually will sit in the turbo side. If it falls off u can just place it back in. That too can be reused unless it's falling apart.

Dawgz, thanks! The dealer did manage to have the 2 donuts that go in the turbos, so i have them. I do remember 1 falling out on my M2 and breaking when it hit the floor, so I am good to go with getting the cats on. I do have to wait till friday to get the 2 donuts that go from cat to midpipe. But putting the cats back in is 90% of the work remaining.

He which cat did you put back in 1st? The one with the brackets/2 studs or the one thats closer to the passenger side?

Thanks man!

I have not done the DPs on the x3m yet but the downpipe design where it meets the turbo hot side is pretty much all the same. Those practices ive used on the S63 will apply here as well.

So as far as which one to install first to provide clearance, I cant say.
