The X3 & M4 are very understated & under represented on many products. I think our units have a touch more protection in this area then them. Not by much though...

My temps are fine. Mesh material isn't going to restrict airflow that much. OP, ignore the comments from the guys talking smack that don't have these installed. I have them installed, and they work as intended with no issues. |

Until you take a rock or road debris to one & have to pay for a replacement. Unless you're tracking, any restriction to airflow would be negligible. I've got these on our X3MC & ordered similar screens for my M2.

The oil cooler is under the car and parallel with the ground, no?
No one makes a skid plate/guard specific to the X3M but you can fit an upgraded F8X oil cooler (w/ built in guard) to protect it. (e.g., Mishimoto, CSF).

Yes the oil cooler is in the bottom. The one above that is the heat exchanger and the trans cooler right Infront. |

In my 5+ years as a BMW certified tech I have never seen a HX fail due to road debris. And I’m in the snow/road salt region. But hey if you want to waste money on a useless product be my guest.

So just because someone hasn't seen it happen, doesn't mean it hasn't, can't, or won't. As already pointed out in the M2 forum, a member had his oil cooler destroyed by a rock in the first couple hundred miles. The M2 cooler is $1,600. I'll pay $300 for added protection. |

M2/M3/M4 have specific skid plates to guard that area. X3M does not. So what are folks doing to protect? (Outside of upgrading to the F8x oil cooler with built in guards I listed above)

That’s because it lays flat and collects everything bouncing off the condenser. Also anyone that pressure washes the front and hits the top trying to clean the front opening the water will push the fins over. They make radiator fin combs to straighten them out.

Window tint isn't necessary, are you going to start arguing against people who add tint? What about car covers, are you against those too? Maybe you should provide a comprehensive list from your vast experience of all the things that are unnecessary for vehicles so we can all save our money
