Any 1st year problems with the 2011 X3?
I am thinking about buying a used 2011 X3. Since its a 1st year design, are there any known problems with the car such as design issues or rattles? Thank You.

No problems with it. Well, not more than the 2012+ other owners, no major flaw or bulletin Just my opinion... |

Sounds like the most of the problems are related to tailgate and pano roof rattles which is pretty common in SUVs with Pano roof. Did BMW managed to fix these problems in the later model years?

I've had my 2011 28i x3 since March 2011, 20,000 miles, and no problems. Love it.

I bought a used 2011 x3 28i with 14k miles on it. Love it . No issues at all. At 35 k miles now-Run flats are going bald- but that's expected. Absolutely , go for it.

The noise was coming the steering rack when turning sharp left over bumps. I got mine fixed after the 4th visit at the dealer.
Other than the noise, the acceleration delay was also fixed by a ECU upgrade and ignition solenoid changed. The engine has less vibration at idling as well. |

Gareth, I had to google mechatronic because it sounds like a made up part name.

Correct. It's not just a little plug-in circuit board either. It's a big project to replace a mechatronics unit.

Tailgate rattle fixed - loose cables all over the place apparently
Acceleration lurching fixed - software update Cluster gauge freezes fixed - software update Power windows anti-trap fixed - went away on its own after a week... 28k on it and wouldn't change it for anything else in its category/price range right now. |
