How often does UltimateCare+ change the oil and other services?
I've been reading everywhere I can think of, but cant find a definitive answer.
How frequently can you swing by the stealer and have them change oil change, air filters, wipers, etc during the duration of an active ultimate care + full? I know that the car has something called condition-based service, but I hate the idea of having to go 10K miles on an oil change, and want to have it changed every 6 months regardless of mileage. Am I basically at the mercy of the car telling me its time for a change? I guess I can call stealers in Houston, but wanted to get first-account info from people that have been here before. Thanks! |

My experience is they will only do it at BMW recommended intervals. Which means every 10k miles or once a year. Its worth the $700 package for 3 years to do plugs and diff if you drive enough, but the longer ones are just stupid.

Very much this. You might be able to talk them into doing some things a bit early if it's already going in for something else, but they won't deviate too much from the schedule/CBS (condition-based service) intervals.

You can still change your oil at any time interval you want. You'll just have to pay for it or do it yourself..then when the CBS oil service illuminates you can have the dealer do it. And at that point, the warning light will be reset.
Then continue to drive until you reach the next time interval you desire...change your oil and continue to drive until the CBS oil service illuminates again. Change the oil and have the warning reset.

well I think i goofed up. My assumption was that you can have whatever you wanted changed during the 3/36. now i know thats not the case. And I paid 850 dlls to extend the maintenance by another 2 years. crap edit: how do they determine when to change air filters (cabin and engine) and wipers? |

Those seem to be every other oil change...not sure. No clue on the wipers though, probably when they "look" like they need it per the tech. I change my wipers in the spring and again before winter so BMW will never do them if that's the case. I also do my own oil changes at 6mo /5k miles in-between the BMW service.
That being said, the maintenance plan will be paid for almost by the sparkplug replacement job alone when it pops up.

Started reading on the spark plugs and wow, some people have had them replaced at under 20k. And its a pricey service, so i'm start to feel better about my purchase. Thanks for the info! |

Doing the spark plugs on these cars doesn't look that hard. You'll save a huge chunk of money doing them yourself and its way cheaper then extending the maintenance plan.

I'm probably missing something obvious but aren't plugs covered under the base maintenance plan through 36 months?

They are, but it sounds like the OP got an extended plan that's beyond the 3/36 that the base includes.

Did mine this summer. The plugs are $150, so there is that cost to consider too.

Thats correct, the F&I manager at the dealer where I bought the F97 upgraded it for me to the care+ full for free. So I have brakes, wipers, etc covered. In addition, I paid 850 to extend it an additional 2 years, so I have ultimate care (not the +) for a total of 6 years unlimited miles (since I'm CPO'd). |

If you have your owners manual binder…there should be a smaller service/maintenance booklet that may cover these other maintenance services & items with mileage and/or time intervals.
