So this car is essentially getting the M2 motor minus the overboost feature.

I love that so many people don't like it, which means there will be less on the road.

Now let's now imagine JB4, downpipes and meth making 500hp! That's better hp to weight than an X6M at almost half the price.

I'm going to be optimistic, its going to be in the 430-450whp with a e30 mix before meth =D

Mine goes into production next week (week 9) and then its 10-12 days for production since its an M40i model Genius advised.

Yeah I don't understand why this car is receiving so much hate, but the funny thing I've realized is that I am only seeing negativity within BMW customers (Bimmerpost). Most people I know that don't drive bimmer is definitely not hating on this car. I guess lots of the bimmer customers tunnel vision themselves to the seden and coupe vehicles M3, m5 etcs. that's why this wouldn't interest them one bit. Anyways, like someone said, that means there will be less on the road and we will be unique! I ordered one as well! Originally ordered the longbeach blue but after seeing it in person with my wife at an autoshow, we felt that the color was way too much for us, so now we changed to a low profile carbon black. Can't wait!

The problem with this car is that pictures do it no justice. In person, it is a whole lot nicer. I didn't like it much in pictures when the X4 was first released but when I saw it in person, it looked miles better. Couple that with the comment above about potential X5M/X6M levels of power and all of a sudden it becomes a great bargain.

Potential F85 power? C'mon, it's a great BMW (with a v dated interior), but don't fool yourself (or anyone else here) into thinking that anything short of a fully built engine (at great, unrecoverable expense) will get you anywhere near advertised S63TU output, much less it's actual output (closer to 650hp, see here: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1179357 ).

With a G01 X3/4M confirmed and on the horizon- with what is likely with the S55, meaningful improvements to chassis (weight, proper DHP, etc.) and a greatly improved interior finishes- this car doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

Buy a gently used LCI X3 xDrive35i M sport for $20k+ less and trade it in on your G01 X3/4M.

Or lease, I suppose.

I don't get how people are all of a sudden wowed by the drivetrain? To me its the most disappointing thing about the M40i. No torque vector/LSD? Some software to make the car sound a bit louder? A couple mm of suspension drop ( which any tuner is going to toss 10 minutes into ownership).

Its still an N55, the same one that has been in an X3 for years. They haven't really changed anything else about the car but boost the factory HP ( which for some reason people don't get that more horsepower from factory means less incremental HP with tunes and boltons).

Its a good car in stock form. But if you are big into modifying it then its no better than anything that has come before.

I dunno guys, i think you are out to lunch on this car's potential.

Want a racetruck? Wait for the real M with real changes.
