Are there no aftermarket X3 M40i midpipe options? I see there are for X3M/MC, but I can't find anything for the M40i. Best I can see is either an axleback or downpipe.

I'd rather not take out the downpipe even with a catted version because they still throw CEL codes, and then there's the headache of dealing with that for emissions inspections.

Axleback looks like just Fi exhaust. No Dinan for M40i, only for M/MC.

Am I leaving out any options?

Not a midpipe but I just realized that Active Autowerke apparently makes a downpipe for the X3 M40i, and they claim there is no CEL error codes with it:

Got on the phone with Active Autowerke today, they confirmed the b58 downpipe will work with the X3 M40i. I'm going to order it, it's sold out at the moment. ETA a month.
No CEL codes.

Oh wow this thing is 400 cell? From what I've seen its a hit or miss at 300 cell but I could believe 400 cell could avoid CEL. I'm the same with not wanting to deal with emissions testing issues so I would definitely be interested in one of these too.

As for the cost I imagine 400 cell could easily be $1k or more. Did they let you know the approximate cost?

It's the same one as this, sold through XPH (they even recommended this reseller, who is a forum vendor):

$1329 through XPH. MSRP on AA's website is $1399 I believe. The price is hidden at the moment on AA's website because it's sold out.

There is no midpipe. The only exhaust components on this car are catback and downpipe. Two pieces, thats it.

Have seen people doing resonator delete, contemplating doing that myself as i want more sound than the CTS catted DP offers.

Just an update for the community… I just placed my order of the Active Autowerke downpipe. Lead time is a few weeks. Can't wait! Will post plenty of videos once it's installed!

I got mine about a month ago. Left it at the shop for install earlier today. I don't expect to get a CEL. If I do you will know.

Nice! Yeah AA guarantees no CEL with this unit so that's a big part of why I chose this vs. Wagner Tuning or Evolution.

Can't wait to hear it installed on your X, definitely share some videos!

Thank you for posting this! This is the down pipe I've been waiting for. I just ordered it! I wanted the best quality catted down pipe without having a CEL. I am on a mild reflash tune, I can also get another tune to adjust to the down pipe. I can't wait to get this on. Might do another Dyno pull

Long story. Good news is got it back today. Driven only 25 miles since. Kept on the same stage 1 tune for now, adjusting for downpipe and hpfp. Shop owner did the work himself.

The mst intake was mislabeled and is probably for a 2020+ X3 with the TU engine. Oddly, the owner told me the burger motorsport gen1 b58 turbo inlet did not fit the turbo inlet correctly nor would it hold the sensor it’s supposed to safely. The car wasn't going to sound like I had imagined it would since dropping it off. He gave the dorch pump and its fitment some praise. He didn’t mention anything about the downpipe.

The catted aa downpipe is louder than stock. No doubt about it as soon as you hear the cold start. Nothing crazy in my humble opinion but I came over from a jeep srt. It’s deep but also adds what I can only describe as a slightly metallic tone, especially at mid to higher revs. It’s motorsport-ish: racy but still grown-up. There is more bark on upshifts. More pops and bangs and at lower rpms while in the plain sport mode. I used plain sport a lot in the past to reduce those. Butt dyno says there’s something extra happening. I’ll try and start a thread with videos sometime between now and Sunday.

Thanks for the detailed update. Your reaction to the downpipe is exactly what I was hoping to hear! Can't wait for the videos. Mine should be coming soon, another couple weeks and then I'll get it promptly installed myself.

My active autowerke downpipe was suppose to be shipped by late next week.. however I recieved an email stating that my pipe didn't make the shipping list and is now on the shipping list for late August. At least I got a nice discount for waiting. It's the price to pay for quality..

Yeah I'm ok with the wait. I had to wait about 3 months for their equal length midpipe for my M4. It was entirely worth the wait.
