... so it has begun, hacking DINAN F97 exhaust into G01.. ...barf...

Order placed with extra flap and tee cable.

And the f97 valance parts. Getting this started ahead of DINAN ETA of ~04/30/2021...

Will update here with the progress...

No clue what the end result sound (and drone if any) will there be... but heck, i'm willing to find out, if nothing else get my 3 points.

If doesn't pan out, i can always go back to idea of the fake quads with 100mm...

It's no secret that raw materials are hard to get right now...but Dinan must be last on the global list of importance for some reason. They don't seem to be fulfilling any orders at all and haven't for several months. People are canceling orders left and right and going with alternatives. It's not like their stuff is made with special materials.

I ended up canceling my Dinan order due to the long delays but it worked out for the best in the end. It forced me to step up to the Akrapovic I should have ordered to start with.

Steel price could be impacting their supply chain somehow. It's been pretty dang high lately.

Thanks. Usually i'm not the one with patience, but in this case, oh man, the size of the tip alone, 114mm (4.5"), i mean, are you kidding me ...

But, i can only go so far in waiting...

Just playing around... oh yes, the 114mm (4.5") tips would fill the massive hole just fine ...

hey did you ever get the Dinan exhaust? Can you elaborate any more on your plans to retrofit this to the M40i?

The current shipping date of 07/30/201, is what i'm *hoping* for,

https://www.dinancars.com/products/e.../D660-0086-BLK

The price has gone up a bit, but i'm hoping my cost is what i had ordered back in Apr. Not a typo, Apr.

The exhaust is the only missing item, as the body parts, wiring, electronic are all ready to go.

Damn you Dinan...

Unfortunately not uncommon these days with the delays on aftermarket or any kind of auto parts. I waited about 2-3 months for an Active Autowerke midpipe for my M4 toward the beginning of the year. I got lucky somehow with the Dinan axle back exhaust for my M4 as well… waited only about 3 weeks. This was also back in February. So things likely changed a lot by now.

Hang in there, this sounds like a cool project.

Becareful with 4.5" tips. I have this size with the FI Exhaust and the X3M style rear diffuser and it touches the top of the exhaust cutout on the diffuser.

It actually does not touch the top of the OEM one but the side of it as well when I had the OEM diffuser.

I'm going for 4" ones from aliexpress (still waiting for them to come) but it does cause rattling on startup with the tips touching the diffuser. It depends on how those exhaust pipes that the tips are connected to are angled. If only it was angled slightly downwards then I wouldn't have to change it.

Do you have a link for the Aliexpress tips you got?

It's not cheap and they ding you on shipping for a 2nd one even tho it's probably more cost effective to combine shipping for 2 tips. But I got this one:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...6af54c4dVxuPhV

I had to do custom size as I measured the inlet on my system (outlet pipe of the muffler) and it was 70mm which is not a common size. But I asked them to do 70mm to 89mm. I saw one other member did 101mm outlet with the X3M style diffuser and OEM exhaust system but I wanted to be extra safe with mine.
