TPM Failure

I was driving on the highway and received this error. This is with my OEM TPMS sensors and wheels which I put on about 200 miles ago (and had no issues).

I was running a winter wheel with a separate set of OEM brand TPMS sensors for the first 900ish miles without incident.

It seems it happens to others in the G01 forum. I'll bring this up at my break-in service on Friday. Anyone else get this error?

Forgive the dust

Sudden temperature change perhaps? Or winter to summer tire swap not correctly reset in your idrive?

I had this happen a couple of times over a short journey, about 5 miles. This was with my aftermarket winter setup. Each time the system reset to work normally after a brief period. It has never happened since. A total system malfunction would suggest the problem is not related to faulty wheel sensors. It really would be bad luck to have four faulty sensors with a brand new installation. After some research, the best explanation I could find was interference from an external radio source.

It was warm for a couple days and I was driving chill (at the time) so nothing with temp. I reset to summer tires in iDrive and they configured in about 10 min of driving.

Whenever I swap the wheels/tires I reset in the iDrive and they come on line within 15 min of driving.

Interesting on the radio interference. Nothing electronic has changed on the car and I've driven that road before.

I too believe it is not a sensor issue in the tires, but a fault in the system. I just got in the car and didn't see the message (it happened even after I stopped/started yesterday), but will take it for a ride later to see if it went away.

What's making me nervous is this is the 2nd system issue I've had in a week or so (first being the collision warning system randomly going off with no cars in front of me).

Only mods are some changes thorough Bimmercode and BAVSound speakers and woofers. I've had those for a while so I do not think they are related.

Oh and my mud flaps but I am sure that is not the issue

I took it for a ride and rear the system. The sensors came back online so hopefully it was a fluke.

The radio interference may not necessarily be from within the vehicle but a true external source. My radar detector is triggered by self-opening doors and occasionally by other vehicles that I think must have adaptive cruise. But, as you say, it may just have been a "fluke". It happened to me twice on the same trip but never again.

Reviving the thread as the issue persists.

While I've been doing my amp/LC2i/sub install I had to remove/reinstall the battery and the TPM system was good for a couple days.

Unfortunately the issue has come back. When I took it in for my break-in service they noted the error but did nothing to resolve so it looks like another trip back to the dealer.

Anyone else with the error?

The dealer said they did find a code (the issue was not present when I bought it in). Let me dig through the paperwork...

Paperwork does not say they found a code but the SA said they did.

I guess "nothing" was their solution.

Dumb question but were the sensors the 433MHz version or 315MHz version

The sensors are what came with the car (I assume 433Mhz).

I got the OEM brand of sensors for my winter wheels and never had an issue. I've only had the summers on for about 300 miles in total.

I swapped to my winters within 100 miles of purchase and just put the OEM summers back on a month ago.

Thus far I've had the TPMS issue many times and an un-repairable screw within that 300 miles

It did help! It made me realize it would be a sensor issue rather than the TMP system in the vehicle.

Once I get time I'll schedule an appointment. It's annoying that the message has to be dismissed every time it comes up.
