Tire sizes

What's everyone running for tire sizes on their X3MC? Stock are 255/40/21 and 265/40/21, but I'd like to go wider. Can we do 265/40/21 and 295/40/21? Are spacers required? TIA!

265/40/21 and 295/35/21

u may need spacers to prevent rubbing inner liner but u should do it for the stance anyways

I’m running 265/40/21 and 295/35/21. One inch drop and no spacers, but it’s custom wheels.

Also, are you guys running P4Ss, which run a little wider than other brands specifically Conti?

I'm running 15mm f/r but on 265/40/21 and 285/40/21 tires. I will probably run 295/35/21 on my next set

I’m running PS4S. They are not very chunky. Very happy with the warm weather grip.

Now that my suspension is set, I'm starting to test the limits more in the curves, specifically highway exits and on ramps. I have to say these PS4s do hold well, and I do notice even less lean in the curves with this one inch drop. It does boggle the mind for a suv.

Yep. Also, I can finally use Sport Plus suspension setting thanks to the MSS springs. Very nice planted yet comfy ride.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It's fine on most stretches here, but there are still some spots where I have to make sure it's in comfort. Some of these roads are truly terrible here.

Side note - had a Caddilac CTS take notice of me and accelerated a bit in the straights to catch up to me right before I entered a typical 270 degree curved feeder ramp. I pushed the X3 harder than I have to date, and it easily took that long and sharp curve without the slightest sign of distress despite the Gs I was feeling on my body. Oh, and that CTS that worked so hard to catch me on the straights? He took the same ramp too and came out about 50 yards behind me. This thing handles curves like nobody's business. It's crazy to own such a versatile vehicle with so many strengths yet so few compromises.

Thanks, but the dealership is buying me P4Ss since they swapped the factory ones onto another car. I think I'll go with these sizes.

For OEM 21" wheels these are your max sizes. I'm running PS4S in these sizes without spacers on stock suspension and they fit no issues. The inside clearance is very very tight but no issues. Personally I hate dealing with spacers and I don't think they are needed on my setup but of course this is subjective.

Regarding Sport+, I use it any time I'm driving aggressively and I love it. Feels fantastic to me.

Has anyone noticed any adverse effects with the 265/295 setup?

When it comes time to upgrade I’m tempted to go that size but don’t want to adversely effect the handling or ride quality.

Handling: No problems. Still handles well. Same German-solid, planted feeling.
Comfort: I also have the MSS springs installed and the ride has become very comfortable - like a completely different vehicle, to the point where I switched the suspension settings to Sport+ to get more road imperfection feedback. Shocking transformation, really. Comfort is too soft now, but Sport+ is just perfect! I wish I could let you guys test drive my car.

Can I drive your car? BM3 and those springs must be a sweet setup to try!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm fine with the stock ride but the springs are tempting to get a bit more comfort over the bad NY roads. If this was an easy DIY job I might do it, but don't really trust any shops around here (nor do I want to spend the money).

I'm curious how people with stock springs are finding the increased tire size.

If you were able to install those effing BavSound speakers all by yourself, I'm pretty sure you could install those springs as well.

OEM suspension here. No significant difference in feel other than I gained increased comfort swapping from Continental to Michelin.
