'19 X3 Surround view activating at red lights
Don't even have 1,000 miles on the car yet but can't seem to figure this one out. Sometimes when I stop behind another car at a red light the surround view camera activates and sometimes I get an audible alert.
Other times I just get an audible alert with no indicators on the Nav screen or center display of any issues. Both of these issues happen about 10% of the time whether I'm using the Nav for directions or not. Is there a setting I can adjust so it not so sensitive? Thanks |

I have the same problem. I noticed that it correlates with how close I get to the car in front of me (if I get real close, the surround view is guaranteed to activate) and whether it's raining (rain seems to make the whole system more sensitive so the surround view activates more often).
I know you can turn this feature completely off in iDrive. Not sure if the sensitivity can be reduced by coding, but it's on my to-do list to investigate. |

It's the speed at which you approaching the car in front when your coming to a stop. The harder you brake the earlier the surround view comes on as you approach an object. I normally see it as I approach my security gates at work but that's the only time really it comes on itself.

In some situations such as the toll booth mentioned above, it could the kerbs or booth to side rather than what's in front. I expect there are multiple reasons as also mentioned, ie speed of approach.

With my car, it is certainly more than 20 cm. I'd say that if I get within a meter, I risk the system automatically activating. But it's random. Most of the time it's fine, a few times a month it activates. I can live with it.

Try cleaning the sensors, maybe that helps. |

Yes, those are the ones. But if they are dirty, wouldn't they be beeping all the time? Maybe the need calibration - if something like that exists for them
