Interesting, I specifically didn't want this option as it is highly concerning in Europe https://www.express.co.uk/life-style...ance-claims-UK
https://www.express.co.uk/life-style...-Birmingham-UK There is even mentioning that cars with this entry might have higher insurance premiums in the future . Can't find the link that I wanted but this gives an idea https://www.insurancetimes.co.uk/key...426962.article It's cool but too much headache for me. |

I went back and forth with this as well and I think there are a few different terms getting mixed up here.
Keyless entry means you don't need a KEY to open the door, all newer cars have this as you press unlock on the remote. The next level up in my opinion would be where the door has a button and requires you to be WITH the key inside the proximity bubble then the button can be used to unlock/lock (my wife's 2014 Altima has this Standard). Does anyone know if THIS is Standard on G01 X3s? Next is what I would call a "touchless" option, that is when the key is in your pocket you can grab the handle and it will unlock as you pull it. BMW calls this "Comfort Access" and is 0what is included with the $2,XXX Convenience Package. Manufacturers have started taking this further with the "unlock as you approach" or "lock as you walk away" systems mentioned above. I could care less for this level of "convenience" as long as I don't have to take out the key that's a win. Last edited by BimmerZealot; 09-27-2019 at 04:05 PM.. |

I've been saying for years that BMW should provide a credit card style transmitter like Tesla does, but take it a step further by letting you use it while it remains in your wallet. Even in the Tesla, you have to take it out, brush it against the B-pillar to unlock the door and set it on the center console to start the car.
Think about how nice it would be to have all the same features as a key, but in a form factor that remains in your wallet.

But like you said - still have to pull it out of your pocket or purse. |

It's worth checking the comments on the BMW system. https://www.whatcar.com/news/keyless...vent-it/n19895
