Alfa doesn't have a direct comparison engine to M40i E pace will be smaller than X3, F Pace is the competitor here. Show me a SUV the same size (and cargo capacity) as the X3 with 0-60 times under 5.0 and under $70k. I would put money on the M40i hitting 4.4-4.5 when it's tested with launch control. |

For those needing a utilitarian vehicle with good cargo capacity, yet still desiring high performance and engineering, it really boils down to three or four choices. And to add complexity to this decision is the availability of nearby Dealerships - gone are the days that we wish to drive two hours to have a service call. That better be a special vehicle to require that of us now. Some of these other fine choices are not readily available to all unless in large urban environs. To compare vehicles in this genre, whatever one wishes to label it as, it must center around cargo volume, performance, and vehicle size. Otherwise it becomes a free-for-all with some espousing the performance characteristics of their favorite when it doesn't meet the requirements for what many of us need to carry. Perhaps sub-categorization of these fluid nomenclatures might assist those having difficulty deciding on what they desire in this class. |

I think bmw is out of ideas, this is a 1 series hatch up front.
Like all industries, iphone for example...they're not innovating anymore, every new model its just a slight upgrade from the previous gen. At times these companies are actually taking a step backwards.

Gorgeous car but another step in the wrong direction by diluting the M brand once again. Why not call it a sport, or M inspired? The gap between the non-M and the M is narrowing. Not to mention this thing probably has just as many badges as the real X3M will have.

The M Performance lines are a throwback to the past. So another words this is not new but something that actually broadens the product lines. |

Is this in the same class as the Porsche Macan? I checked those out and thought they were excellent.

X5M starts at $100k, no way X3M hits $90k, more closer to $75k-$80k.

I just look at the 2018 X4 M40....no options, 59K base. So I hope it will be less than that...its build in the US....IF it starts at 50-51k base..it will sell like hotcakes...fingers cross. If not, i will look into a used one in 3 yrs time...

If a customer wants the B58 in either the x-line or luxury line, they are stuck with the I4, otherwise they move up market into the X5. At least the current X5/X6 has a choice of M Sport Package or Luxury package with either 35i or 50i engine.
