Nice job! But you forgot you need to run around in circles when doing the 360 view so you're not in the background!...

I kid.

I was waiting for the only other car randomly at a mall parking lot during COVID to come park next to you too!

Hahaha. It is actually a newbie mistake, lol.
I should've walk further away or hide inside the car.

I ask because, as I'm sure you know, 9-3 gives you the best control, is taught at every racing and performance driving course, is actually safe for control over the car, and is used by every race car driver.

IIRC, 10-2 was actually promoted heavily in the US by local governments so that cops could be able to see your hands while driving not because it is actually safer/more control.

https://www.nbcnews.com/businessmain...l-wrong-518710

https://www.popularmechanics.com/car...nd-3-15851738/

https://www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.do...techniques.pdf

Is it because your fingers reach the 10-2 from the 9-3 more easily so having a higher paddle is better?
Thank you for that. Gave me pause for thought about my driving style. Upon further analysis, I realize that although I drive with my hands at 10-2 a considerable amount of the time it is actually when I am less than "focussed", i.e., straight roads, close to the speed limit. I find it most comfortable with less pressure on the wrists. The bumps on the M steering wheel are perfect to hang thumbs.
Interestingly, when attacking curves at speed I switch to 9-3 which does give more control, but this is an non-conscious act (automatic).
The X3M is my first performance vehicle with paddle shifters. For most of my 50+ years driving I drove stick. I am now thinking about shifting gears rather than doing it automatically and, because of the paddle shifters, I am also now thinking about my steering wheel grip. Learning new skills is fun. I only bother with the paddle shifters because BMW did such a good job with the X3M gearbox. I have also noticed that unless one comes to a definite stop, the gearbox will often stay in second gear which leads to a less than stellar get away. When approaching a red traffic light I use the paddle shifter to select 1st gear before stopping even if I am in auto mode. I am never guilty of such California (rolling) stops at stop signs

One advantages of the larger paddle shifters is that I can change gear manually from 10-2, 9-3, 8-4, and all points in between. This is helpful because, of course, the shifters change position with the wheel which can be an issue when performing the "Fangio Shuffle" Maybe this is this reason some people prefer shifters on the column rather than the wheel, a la Stelvio.

On a slightly tangential note, the Mercedes F1 team now have a mechanism whereby pushing and pulling on the steering column can change the alignment of the front wheels. You have to love modern technology

Got my Sterckenn lip installed. Took me 15 min or so to do it myself. Love that it has a very uniform factory look and not an overly aggressive look.

Sweet brother. I'm still waiting for some side skirts. I read up a chat you had with a member about g20 skirts that might fit? Any word?

Installed my Sterckenn lip as well. I'll be honest and say it's ok and a bit conservative. Will be gone once my RKP lip arrives.

Does make it more aggressive than stock. I don't think either this or rkp will be a bad choice. Either way it's a win!!!!

Installed, they both look similar. Sterckenn is a bit more protruding, RKP is nice because it’s one piece and has some nice design elements. Both look a bit too conservative for my taste.

The RKP lip will at least be visible from the side profile since it's one piece and wraps the corners of the bumper slightly. The Sterckenn is nearly invisible from the side and that bugs the hell out of me.

Sorry for delay. I'm going to finish test-fitting this weekend and mount them early next week. I will post some temporary mounting photos tomorrow.

Yep. LSB. Got it on BaT. It was well sorted and glad to add it to the stable. Going to be adding few more mods. Probably carbon roof sometime this year.
