You can flash back to stock anytime, but if a failure occurs the dealer (or bmw) can see it was previously flashed. If a big ticket item fails, you can be sure they will look.

Correct, I installed stock config and locked DME for an O2 recall where BMW needed to flash my DME.

No issues, no word, nothing in terms of BMW mentioning anything.

I decided to get the BM3 for my recently leased X4M. I was really hesitant to go the flash route, as my previous three vehicles all had JB4s, but the way I look at it, if you have a major issue they can detect ANY type of tune and deny the claim.

I also never took the JB4 hardware off the car prior to going to the dealer. It was just a pain in the ass. At least with the BM3 you can flash to stock and relock....

Just review your logs after flashing GT500R and I have had poor timing with our Shell 93 V-Power gas which is supposed to be wonderful, but doesn't appear that way.

For regular dealer maintenance such as oil change most ppl don't flash back to stock
But if you don't have a mod friendly dealer, then its recommended to flash back to stock a few days prior so that way you do a few Wide Open Throttle on stock tune

What about with a catless downpipe? Seems flashing back to stock will throw a check engine light for missing cats? Do you guys just avoid the dealers and get maintenence at a independent shop?

A lot of ppl pay an Indy Shop that's experienced with European cars since not everyone lives near a BMW dealership. But also the need of having to flash back to stock and relock ECU a few days prior dealer ship may or not be a thing for some others.

CEL for Cats will show up but you can still clear it 5-10 miles before you arrive at Dealer.
