2021 BMW X3 M40i  [10.00]
Good Morning, Brothers & Sisters!!

Two days ago I traded my '16 M2 for a '21 X3 M40i. AKA my SIXTH BMW. I'd been wanting to get into an X3 or X5 for a while now, but knew that I would need one that could still perform a bit. Since the X5 M50i was out of my range, I decided that the X3 M40i would be a great fit and thanks to the guys at BMW of San Diego, I'm now the proud owner of a Sophisto Grey/Cognac X3 M40i.

Now to my question. It came with the 19" 698M wheels which I did not want, but thanks to rofsky, I was able to get a set of 765M wheels to put on and they went on yesterday. Of course, the first thing that happened (which I was NOT expecting because the newest BMW I'd had before was a '16) was the sensors picked up that the wheels/tires had been changed and took me to the settings. OF COURSE there was the option for 19" & 20", but no option for the 21" (X3 M Wheels are 21x9.5 & 21x10 respectively wearing 255/40-21 & 265/40-21 tires.

I didn't know what to do so I picked the 20" staggered setup so it started telling me that the recommended pressure is 38psi/45psi (or something like that). Is that what I was supposed to do, or is there another option?

I'm sure I'll have many more questions, but that is the most pressing issue right now just because I don't want to mess something up.

BTW, I have a set of 698M wheels/tires for sale if anyone is interested. I believe they have the Bridgestone Dueler tires and I know at least two are new and the others are prob around 70-80%.

the 38/45 on 20s seems super high... i would keep around 36/40 personally as i think the ride would be too bouncy with that 45 rear... but again comes down to personal preference as long as you aren't over the tire inflation limits which are written on the side of the tire

how are you liking the x3? i too had an m2 in the past

I think I may have accidentally hit the >100 instead of the <100 and that may be why. I just don't know if I have to go with what they're suggesting or I can run the pressures I want because it seemed high to me as well.

It's a little bit of an adjustment since all I've had were Performance 3 Series and this M2, but it's not that far from the mark because it's the M40i, especially now that I have the 21" X3 M wheels on it. The comfort, the technology, the space, the quiet and that panoramic moonroof as well as still having some handling and performance is a win-win. It'll take me a little while to get acclimated to everything that car has/can do, but that's what you guys are here for as I know I'm going to have questions. But overall, I'm very happy with it and that Cognac interior is just gorgeous!
