How to: disabling ASD in Protool
After an excessively long and frustrating email exchange with protool support, figured out a way to fully disable ASD. Once you connect to the car,
1) select the first "disable Active Sound" from their "quick menu". Two options will appear, make all the changes in the first option. Oddly, the changes will be reflected in the second option. But according to protool support, they change different things. 2) Hit disable ASD in their quick menu, 3) Go to expert, then select option 3001 AUDIO UND ASD 4) set ALL ASD OPTIONS TO DISABLE. Their program doesnt disable them using the quick menu: a) ASD_INSIDE b) ASD_OUTSIDE c) ASD_PLUS_STARTUP d) ASD_PLUS_BURBLING e) ASD_PLUS_DOWNSHIFT f) ASD_PLUS_EFFECTS g) ASD_PLUS_EZA_UPSHIFT Line items that are set to "disabled" or "standard" or "inactive" leave them alone. Only change stuff that is set to "active" in items starting with ASD to "inactive" For whatever reason, protool doesnt see the license item that bimmercode does. Hit finalize once you've done all your changes and cycle the ignition. Hope this helps. |

I have ProTool and Bimmercode. The individual options you listed here are also available in Bimmercode expert mode and can be turned off. The front page option to turn off ASD with license key works in Bimmercode. I have not done any testing since I have both apps but my feeling is that some unlisted function of ASD stays on with just the options turned off.

Subbed! I disabled ASD using Bimmerpost but originally tried via ProTools since coding the dynamic high beams was so easy using it. If my coding gets wiped after the next OTA update I’ll probably try the ProTools method next time.
ASD is BMW’s active sound design which pipes in artificial engine, exhaust, and transmission sounds in to the cabin through the speakers. I wonder if using ProTools you can selectively disable only certain ASD features like removing exhaust/engine but keep the transmission sounds? |

You can, but somehow you still a little feed from the stuff you code out. I left everything disabled and makes the ride more pleasant. |

I think you're right in that disabling the license really kills off ASD using bimmercode. Seems like protools doesnt deactivate ASD, but just turns sounds off. I really dont care as long as everything is shut off. |

TacosRule!
Can you send a link for the protools and the necessary hardware? I'm wondering if this is something I can do myself. Thanks |
