4 year service in the UK

I have just received a message from BMW to say that my service is due this month which I knew. Although it is a June 2020, the 2 year service was done 6 months early so the 4 year service is due now based on age rather than mileage as it has only done 22k miles.

The My BMW app shows that oil service and vehicle check is due which is what I was expecting but the email from BMW says that spark plugs and air filter are also due. So my question is, does anyone know the interval/mileage for replacement of spark plugs and air filter. I am sure my last car (F30 LCI 330i with B48 engine) was 60k miles. 22k miles I think is very low to be replacing iridium spark plugs but if it is recommended at 4 years, then there is another 6 months to go.

Both the air filter and spark plugs look like an easy job so I will probably do them myself and just put it in for the oil, microfilter and vehicle check

Spark plugs are due every 60k miles IIRC. Should be very easy to replace all 6, about 30mins tops.

By air filter did you mean cabin or intake filter? Either way, replacement interval depends on your environment. In the environment I live in, I typically replace both around 25k-30k miles regardless of their condition.

That is what I thought, 60k miles as they are iridium plugs. It is the intake filter, cost is £40 for a genuine BMW filter and looks like about 15 minutes to fit it, so I will probably replace that myself.

Well they are doing all four items on the email.

Based on the car being four years old, not mileage as I am way below 22,000.

I have a Service plan.

I recently had an oil/filter service on my service plan, and opted to use the fast track 90min option.

Filled out an online form, spoke to a service adviser on the phone, spoke to a service adviser when I arrived. Requested the same from all, top up Adblue, and don’t wash. Even left an A4 size big bold notice in the car, do not wash lol.

After 90 mins, I enquired when my car would be ready, and was told it was waiting to be washed ! Thankfully, they hadn’t touched it

Checked the car and noticed the Adblue hadn’t been filled. Brought this to the attention of the services adviser and was told this isn’t included in the service plan. So I produced a copy of the service plan T&C’s showing it does cover certain fluids, including Adblue at service. It was then filled to max.

The fuckers even tried to take my do not wash notice, claiming it was theirs lol.

Triple check everything before you leave, and if you have a service plan get everything you are due.

Saw your post just before I collected, also had the 90 minute appointment.

No Adblue for my 30e needed but noticed they had topped up the washer bottle
