NGK 95248
Anyone use these Spark Plugs on their X3MC?
FCP shows these are OE and are cross referenced under OEM part # 12122455258. ** Update ** Should have searched more. Found two threads that confirm this is okay to use. https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1737548 https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1833657 ** Update #2 ** (Just sharing info) Part # 12125A4EF60 is what the dealership told me comes up for my VIN. RealOEM does not have this one listed and only lists 12122455258 12125A4EF60 will be superceding 12122455258. Last edited by Dawgz; 07-27-2022 at 06:07 PM.. |

Finally did them, stock '20 competition, no aftermarket tune yet.
7k miles! Had a slight hesitation at idle, you could feel it in the cabin, car would slightly shake. After the change it's very smooth, no more hesitation. Gapped the new plugs to .022 Last edited by Dawgz; 08-03-2022 at 12:52 PM.. |

I feel like they updated the part number when the M3 came out. Turner lists the part number with the 58 at the end as our plugs, but the dealer told me it was the plugs with 60 at the end. Wonder what they were correcting when they updated the plugs?

Seeing those I'm much less dubious of the prescribed change interval.

Lol ya, I plan to change these yearly. Hopefully FCP starts carrying this exact part soon so I can get free replacements. They do carry part # NGK 95248 which is supposed to be a OE replacement but the NGK plug # shows as SILZKGR8C8S while the stock plugs are SILZKGR8E8S. I'll have to call NGK and see what the difference is if any. ** Update ** I just called NGK and the technical support rep told me both SILZKGR8C8S & SILZKGR8E8S are exactly the same, same heat range as well. I was also told by NGK that NGK 93560 is one step colder (I DONT think we need this on stock or stage 1&2 tunes). Last edited by Dawgz; 08-03-2022 at 11:33 AM.. |

Btw when trying to break these stock plugs loose, I can safely say that the factory torqued these down way past 16-17ft lbs. Felt more like 23ft/lbs rather than 23NM

Was the plug gapping of .22 factory spec or your choice?

You've got me thinking I should do plugs. I'm at a little over 14k miles with similar but barely noticeable symptoms. When does the dealer scheduled plug replacement happen?

It seems to be based on oil changes as opposed to mileage, dealer did mine at 12k with an oil change and other scheduled maintenance.

I was going to take mine to the dealer for this hesitation but thought it would be the plugs (which, thankfully, it was) so I just did them at home. I saw someone else on the forum saying they had similar issues and after putting new plugs the issue went away. So maybe its good to just do these every 5k...(every oil change). I've had other cars where plugs wasn't even something to bring up under 100k miles. I understand the x3m is a high performance vehicle but...
