Exhaust Valve Controller

Had CG VSC-2 on my F82 M4 and it worked a treat, is there such a controller for the LCI X3M Comp?

You want volume? Skip the controller and swap the midpipe to delete the secondary cats and resonator. Or if you need to keep the secondary cats look at the Dinan X pipe. ER mid pipe here…

disagree. valve controller is needed.

the valves open up at standstill (when transmission is in Park or Neutral), but the moment you shift into D the valves damn near close immediately and never really fully open up unless at WOT. even with a full akrapovic exhaust the car sounds damn near OEM to me. ive driven without the valves (fully open) and it was sooooo much louder. I assume it'd be the same with any other setup. valves really make a difference.

I've already ordered a VSC-2 controller (read that it works on the G8x platform so I figured it would be the same for the F97) a month ago and still waiting.

That’s cool. Everyone has different goals. I know BimmerLink is working on exhaust valve control for the F97. Spoke to another member who says he knows the values to change via expert mode in BimmerCode but I don’t want to be the Guinea pig.

I have an Akra set up but same concept with the controller. The sound is unrestricted with the valves open and makes the car sound more natural. I programmed my mirror buttons to control the valves open/normal function and the Dahler remembers the last setting. I leave my valves open and only go to normal mode for service or when I am on a call in the car.

how was the install with the Dahler controller?

ive had the vsc-2 on my old F80, but was wondering where you would put the controller under the F97. any fitment issues when it comes to length of the cables?

if CG precision continue to ignore my emails for another week or so I'm about to cancel the order and get the Dahler and would like a clean install.

Is there anyway to code the existing exhaust button to full open the valves?

There is a member here working on it but BimmerLink will not open the flaps on the F97. At least not yet

The difference in sound is minimum with the exhaust button

That’s what others say. For me with the valves open it sounds horribly tiny and raspy but likely because I have a replacement midpipe.

Anyone know a good place to pick up the dahler controller? Looking for something that’s available then having to wait a month to open my valves.

I pulled the valve fuse on my pre-lci and while it is quite a lot louder when driving which is kind of cool, it has a pretty obnoxious drone during the high-idle phase during cold start or re-start after a drive. Having a controller like this would be a good mix so I could mute it during those parts, but open it up whilst driving. Hopefully someone finds a good source for them.

If I'm reading it correctly the JB4 has flap controls for F97 (doesn't work for G8X). Does anyone have any experience with this? Or would it be better to just get a separate controller?

doesn't work on the F97. you'd need a separate valve controller.

I got the VSC-2 and it works well. haven't had an issue yet.

simple. took me 5-10 mins to install to see if it works, another 10 mins or so just to clean up the wires by rerouting and using electrical tape.

I have a few questions...
Are you on stock exhaust? Curious what it sounds like with a stock system.
Will sport plus and other modes still sound different with the controller open and closed?
Is closed just back to factory mode?

Thanks

1. No. I have a full Akrapovic exhaust (slip-on + evolink midpipe).
2. They will sound less different with the valves fully open since they will be open ALL the time. The difference in the modes will come down to the "burbles". Volume itself will remain constant throughout the rev band.
3. No. There are three options you can program with the VSC-2.. OPEN (valves open ALL the time), CLOSED (valves closed ALL the time), and AUTOMATIC (OEM/Factory Control).
