M40i Tires not covered by warranty
At 17,000 miles, I need to replace my Perrelli P7 All Season run flat tires. I'm not an aggressive driver and did not have this problem with my same model 2018. I checked the warranty for the tires and found they are not cover at all by any factory new car warranty on tires. Non M40i cars are covered. Certainly makes me think of my next car since I now have to spend $1700 to replace them before my lease is up. What's changed with this model year?

No consumables have warranty. The only time Ive seen a tire replaced under warranty was when it developed a sidewall bubble and it took a herculean effort to prove that there was no pothole damage or anything external that cause the tire to almost blow up.
And Discount were indispensable in getting it replaced AND, it was prorated so only got half of the retail value, even though the tire had only 2/32s used. |

Never heard of a tire wear warranty on a new car. I’d be happy with 17,000. Never gotten more than 10k. What annoys me is I picked up the car from dealer with a full tank of gas and I have to pay out of my pocket every week to replace it.

There is no treadwear warranty on OEM tires. 17k ok the oem tires isn't that bad. If OP wants to stay with all-seasons, go with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4. They come with a 45k treadwear warranty & get replacement certificates from Discount Tire

They are denying most claims even with these warranties/guarantees. They are claiming that bad driving habits are the cause of premature wear. In their eyes, we are doing standstill burnouts every morning before taking the kids to school. |

And regarding the replacement certificates from Discount Tire, DT just replaced a tire for me that my local BMW dealership destroyed - Free of charge. They didn't have to, but I'm a good customer, so they took care of it. Tire had 31k mi on it at the time, and it was replaced.

I’ve had plenty of them denied. NY is a different world along with different dealerships and tire distributors. Unfortunately things are not the same across the board and across the country. |

You didn't answer who is denying claims? The tire manufacturer's treadwear warranty is not location-specific.

Gotcha. So we went from "they're denying most claims" & "I've had plenty denied" to you've had 2 claims denied. Generally, if there are patterns of abnormal wear, i.e., alignment out of spec, or rears significantly worn compared to fronts, they can deny the claims. I've had plenty of tires, on many different vehicles, not last for the mileage specified and not once had a claim denied. I had a set of Michelins with a 30k mi treadwear warranty last 5k miles. I received 85% prorate off a new set, no questions asked.
So my recommendation to the OP stands, if he wants to stick with all-seasons, and wants long tread life, the Michelin Pilot All-Season 4 with a 45k mi treadwear warranty is a great option.

BMW as well as Pirelli refused to give credit for low mileage wear. The Pirelli guide that comes with the car states that this specific model tire on an M40i is not covered at all. I called Pirelli to verify and they stated the same thing. Why supply a tire warranty book if its useless.
