Any made in Rosslyn plant X3 owner here?

Hey folks, I placed the order for my new X3 early March and got the car's VIN today...I was extremely happy with the news and when I checked more careful the VIN I noticed that the car is manufactured in the Rosslyn BMW plant in South Africa (11th digit is N). The dealer was under the impression that the car would be built in the Spartanburg plant.
My question is if anyone owns an X3 built in Rosslyn and if yes if she/he has any complaints regarding the quality of the car build.

Regards

My 30d msport was built in Rosslyn. Build quality seems OK. No issues with the workmanship , but more so with the BMW parts installed: Collision warning camera was dead on arrival and today my dealership found a leaking coolant tube which was the reason why I needed to refill coolant twice in 5 months already. Both issues have nothing to do with the production plant but with the supplier quality. Otherwise the g01 is absolutely fantastic and a huge leap forward compared to the f25 I had before.

Rosslyn build here too. No issues.
The dealers usually don't know things the forum knows. :-)

Indeed, spending time in this forum with so many details regarding the car shows clearly how limited dealer's knowledge on the product they sell is.

So it seems to me that a large portion of G01 for european customers is being made in Rosslyn.

Thank you atrueb, good to know...if your step up from f25 to g01 felt a huge leap to you i guess mine from a e84 lci to g01 will be nuts.

If my info is correct, only cars with individual leather, and all M40i, for the European market, are made in Spartanburg still, the rest in Rosslyn. But there might of course be a few not following this..

Mine has been built in Rosslyn and is currently off the coast of West Africa and is Bremerhaven bound

Please see attached news clip and I can't help thinking Rosslyn have not done too badly with all of the 3 series from there.

FINAL BMW 3 SERIES SALOON PRODUCED AT PLANT ROSSLYN.

BMW Group23 Feb 2018

After a successful 35-year run, Plant Rosslyn has bid farewell to the production of the BMW 3 Series Saloon. Since 1983, a total of 1,191,604 units and five generations of the vehicle have rolled off the production line at the South African plant, with one in four of the current generation originating from there.
In the coming months, Plant Rosslyn will begin production of the new BMW X3. Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico will take on production of the BMW 3 Series Saloon in the future.

Above is my understanding too.

UK RHD 30d MSport for me.
Rosslyn made and no production issues spotted during the running in miles.

Question to you guys (owners of X3 made in Rosslyn) - is it worth it to pay 800$/700 euros to get my X3 made in USA or I can go with one made in South Africa (Rosslyn)? I'm asking this since the dealer gave me that option (its whole another topic why there is a price difference at all...)?

Most of the quality is designed into the car. BMW QC is likely the same at both plants. I wouldn't stress about US vs SA.

If it matters to the X3 crowd, my 2008 328i (E90) from Rosslyn cannot stop working - our daughter has driven it for eight years and it has seen every tough situation possible (it's not babied). Once a year I do the maintenance and 152k miles later, this SA sourced BMW just won't be stopped. Quality build. (I bought it as a CPO and the salesperson commented the lower price was because of Rosslyn - silly boy)

My 20i was one of the 1st G01's off the line from Rosslyn. When I ordered it from Park Lane in 2018, I was told it would come from the US like my F25. A short while later, I was contacted by BMW UK and told that delivery would be slightly delayed as my vehicle would now be built in SA.

Mine arrived Jan 2019 and even though it was one of the earlier ones off the SA line, (and hoping I don't Jinx anything!) I can honestly say my car has been faultless and perfect. My mileage is quite low at 16k miles, but in 3 years and 6 months, it has only ever been in to the dealer for a service and a brake fluid change.

In view of the fact my attempts to change it for a new LCI model have been met with predictions of 12 month lead time and a number of option deletes / unavailability, I am very pleased as I'll probably keep for at least another year or so.

From Jan 22 most X3 for Europe and some desitined for the US are made in SA.

The e and M are still US afaik. Prior to Jan 22 the M40,M, and e were US built, and other variants SA. So, many X3’s prior to 22 are SA made.

Build quality of BMW cars made outside Germany can a bit hit and miss.

Had the car since late Jan, built in SA, just turned 4k miles. No major issues yet "touch wood", few little niggles which seem quite common searching the forums - still trying to get myself comfortable in the seats, nearly there but just too hard, centre console cover sticks when closed, and the tow hook covers seem to pop off now and again, I wash by hand no car washes here. Definitely not the build quality of my recent VWs, on par if not slightly better than my MB experience, but I'm really happy with the car, although did expect better from BMW, it being my first.

Hello!

I ordered an X4 20d in Switzerland (europe), as I understood from my VIN, the plant code is 9. I didn't find any informations about this plant code but bimmer.work decoding is giving me ManufacturerBMW AG / Spartanburg, USA, so does it means that it is built in US ? Is that possible?
