Recently got a G05 X5 loaner and whenever I leave the door open the ambient lighting would flash red. Anybody know if that's possible to code in?

This is sadly not possible anymore in G-series like it was back in F-series.

So when I have ASD coded off with Bimmercode, what should it say?

Active, Inactive or Unassigned?

Hi All,

I've already made some coding on my X3 M40i with Bimmercode, but I'm still looking for a few more codes that I didn't find when searching on the forum :

- Is it possible to add Shift Lights in the instrument cluster when approaching the rev limiter, like some M cars ?

- Is it possible to add the gear number besides the D in the instrument cluster when driving in Comfort/Adaptive and Eco mode ?

- Is there a way to have information about the oil temperature somewhere ?

Thanks a lot in advance

You asked about coding a X3M dash on a non X3M car. So the answer is yes you can code a X3M ID6 dash on a ID7 dash. However I do not know personally if you can also code it on a ID6, maybe someone else will confirm that for you. ]
So still without any details from you and what dash you have ID6 or ID7, I only attempted to tell you what I know to assist.

Some coding I've done using "expert" mode and BimmerCode (my2020 iDrive7 - though may work for iDrive6):

# Fix Speedo running too high
Instrument Cluster (DKOMBI4): BC_V_KORREKTUR mit_korrecktur --> ohne_korrektur

# Fog light on with high beams (US default Off)
BDC: NSW_AUS_BEI_FL active --> nict_active

# Fog lights on with parking lights
Body Domain Controller (BDC): NSW_EIN_AUF_LDS_STL nict_active --> active

# Change logo displayed in Instrument Cluster
Instrument Cluster (DKOMBI4): LOGO_SCHRIFTZUG (default) --> (any) 'kein_logo' to remove.

Note: When using BimmerCode expert mode, you can scroll up to get search dialog and put in at least a partial search to get desired setting menu.

That is the one setting that I did not touch. My theory is that since the ODO is sacred ground for all reporting, it was not something I wanted to touch.

I got royally screwed when I traded in a car that has "Mileage Unknown" stamped across the Carfax when the dealer pulled it.

The story is that when bought it, we went away and got the loan. When we returned, all the sales guys were lined up in front of our car (CHIMP - CHevy IMPala 2005) laughing. The stepped aside and the left side was squished. The snowplow had run into it.
They said "We will fix it". I said Ok!

Jump ahead 9 years and I find out that I bought with 26K miles, work was performed at 36k miles, and then I licensed it at 26K miles. Because of a typo, my car was branded with "Mileage Unknown" even though it was CLEAR what happened when someone with a brain looked at the Carfax.

The dealer dropped the price from $3200 to $1700 and said take it or leave it.

We took it.

So...I always view anything that modifies the ODO as the one area that we should not touch.

I am interested in your perspective. Expecially since I have 2 sets of rims/tires that show 7 mph fast at 70 (i.e. shows 77 when the GPS in the radar shows 70 mph).

Paul

Don't confuse speedo with odometer. It's two different reporting criterial - not a single cable driving a mechanical speedometer.

BMW adds a speed correction element.. not sure why; as it makes many models read 3-4mph fast. This does not seem to impact actual mileage recorded.

It's not full screen for you?? If i go to media then click car play it'll take up my whole screen. Almost like loading up an app but it's loads up CarPlay and it takes over the whole screen for me. Didn't do any coding on that
