2023 F97 X3M bmwusa configurator up
The F98 still shows the 2022 version so the site is a work in progress, but the 2023 F97 can now be configured. Price increase as previously discussed noted. Comparing the images it does seem they have tweaked the front undercarriage some and it doesn't appear to be just a website design flaw. It appears to be following what the 2025 G45 X3 mule also showed near the front wheels - https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1932502 (see image3 where I compare my 2020 X3MC side view with it)
Still no roof rail deletion available so will be holding on to my 2020 in hopes the G97 will finally allow a true slick top. |

Just meant the aero design element in front of the wheels appeared to protrude further down on the 23 F97's than on the 22 F98's on the site which should be the same, which also seemed to show up on the G45 image c/w my 2020. Our 2020 and 2022 are the same, so was just questioning if they might have extended it further down for 2023. Looking at your comparison would agree its probably just artifact...

M's Aero Engineering team previously has indicated their painstaking approach to mm tolerances when working on their models' aerodynamic designs. Appreciating what they've been able to accomplish with the F97, and with a desire to stay with this series in the future, it's interesting to see the aero changes they make with successive models (IMO). Since the underbody contributes significantly to Cd, to see the front wheel aero element 'appear' more obvious as shared in my photos, just raised a thought that maybe they found another improvement. As mentioned it may just be artifact, but it stood out easily to me (and no, not a Radiologist).
As background for those interested there's an article online discussing underbody aerodynamics - Effect of underbody structure on aerodynamic drag and optimization, Sep 2017 in the Journal of Measurements in Engineering, Yuan & Wang, (esp section '4.1. The influence of wheel deflector on aerodynamic drag coefficient'). Although it doesn't show up on the 2023 build site yet, that may be an error as it does appear in the 2023 ordering guide which ZCPM4 shared in his thread at: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...1&postcount=10 Pricing Guide X3 M X4 M (F97 F98) Model Year 2023 Effective May 26, 2022 HDJA Black Alcantara Black Merino Leather with midrand beige contrast stitching HDJA requires ordering ZCP Last edited by Max Well; 07-10-2022 at 08:42 AM.. It's funny you point out that aero design element as whenever I have my 2020 X3M parked in the driveway, I look at that piece and worry something is broken. That is until I realize that is the way it is designed

They got rid of the Black with Midrand interior! I wonder how many Toronto Red on Black with Midrand cars are there. If there aren't any I guess my car can potentially be 1of1

They did not, probably just an error in the configurator.
The red/yellow color combo is… well courageous 😊 |
