My M40d is due to be delivered this August. I’ll be delighted if it still has iDrive 6 and the old digital cockpit - I really want to code the Alpina gauges!

So highly likely the X3 should get it soon.
Yeah I am surprised no one talked about this.

It's been there since March.

I actually like the new tech, my car was built in April and I am sort of regret I didn't wait longer for the August build.

It would be much more promising if it wasn't the hybrid. As the hybrid is totally new and likely with hybrid-specific displays it would make sense for them to use the latest iDrive/dash so they wouldn't have to redo everything shortly after.

We'll find out soon enough.

But no new 3-series style dashboard, ID7 or engine upgrades. These will come as part of the LCI in 18-24 months.
LCI is MY 2021, so it's around 15 months away.

Feels like the dealer only highlighted negative changes which sound like they were trying to discourage people waiting for it.

Although as a recent buyer I selfishly hope no new dash and idrive 7 I feel they will come.

30e is a new model but it will come as MY2020 so it's more likely they will be same production line with regular MY2020 X3, so from production perspective I doubt they will do two interior line for this and regular X3.

Can you elaborate on the hybrid-specific displays? I think the hybrids with the "e" suffix uses the same speedometers as the normal cars, maybe some extra battery related content displayed by the LCD screen integrated around the speedometer (which can be easily programmed via software). Examples are the F45 225xe, F30 330e and the F10 530e.

The i3 and i8 are totally different, of course.

What about X3M and X4M? These's so much speculation and conflicting information.

As I'm a software guy I can appreciate that both visually and under the covers there's likely a lot of work they have to code for each model and ID version and it may be more economical to promote it to ID7.

True. However, the ID7 is already available on other models (non hybrids), so they can probably just use those. I'm sure with their extensive model lines (1 to 8 series, x1 to x7), when they are developing the ID7, they will consider maximum compatibility and ease of integration between models.

If you look at the older BMW instrument clusters, you can see that they are pre fabricated with all the possible display indicators into it, even though the car may not have that feature/option available (controlled by software). So they have been doing it for ages.

This reputable source said normal x3 will get it in august and x3m will be April next year. It's been there for a while.

Maybe I'm missing the point but I genuinely can't see what iDrive 7 including "Live Cockpit" does better than iDrive 6.

The A-Class even offers augmented reality.
Wow that A series view is pretty damn cool.

Yep - I also have the non-ventilated seats. They are beautiful to look at, just not as wide or comfortable as I had hoped. I still love the vehicle.

Seriously? And if you select it, and go back into the interior view, will it show the full digital dash display??

Still nothing on the US site so I can't confirm

It will not show on the website yet, it's with the dealer. Several members from motor talk already confirmed this with their dealer to place new order or amend their current ones.

Build is from August in US or September in SA.

All new F40 BMM 1-Series just launched. In the video, the new M135i has the new M Sport bucket seats optioned and looks very similar in design to previous ///M bucket seats.

From the video - electronic bucket seats with manual thigh extenders and electronic adjustable side bolsters.

Thanks for the update. Any other info regarding the powertrain?

Wonder when can we start placing orders for the August build.
