Fed up with BMW

Experience for BMW Connected app is so awful, slow and ugly, it has been crashing on my iphone for 2 weeks while they haven't fixed yet though many people reported this issue. Navigation experience for BMW's Here map service also sucks, don't know why they just don't use google map that is way better. I've lost all my patience for BMW...

Because Google has zero respect and concern for user privacy.

How do problems with an app developed by BMW running on a device built by Apple become Google's fault?

We don’t care but it is becoming table-stakes for younger drivers. A lack of proper phone integration to them looks like a car that uses padlocks on the doors would look to us.

I agree. The built-in Nav system/Voice recognition system is by far the best on the market. I tested all the other major players over the past3 months and NONE had a system that understood daisy-chained commands is smooth and fast, has touchscreen and manual input that is quick and easy and navigation that works right away.

I clearly remember that I posted this as a reply in this thread https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1498115, but how the hell did it become a new topic in X3 forum? It's freaking weird..

Didn't know my reply to another thread became a new topic in X3 forum, even with a "Fed up with BMW" title that I don't know who put it there...
Kinda agree with you, I used the Connected App a lot to climatize my i3 based on timer or schedule; After driving my 2 BMWs for a while that I realized I got brainwashed too much for ultimate driving machine marketing, but what I need is actually a technology built for commuting comfortability and ease of use.

BMW Connected app, you can use it to locate your vehicle, unlock/lock your car, set climatize settings, start engine and bunch of other things.

I have 2 major complains for BMW navigation: it doesn't tell me the destination is on left or right side of the road; It cannot list all search result locations in a map view, so I have to click those destinations within similar distance one by one to see which one is at the right direction.
For the 2nd complain I can search my destination in google map and share it through Connected app, but now Connected app crashes on my iphone.

Try it with the Apple Watch BMW app... then you will find out what is really SLOW... sounding the horn or opening doors with the Apple Watch app takes about 10 minutes per action... I sold my Apple Watch

I have never had the BMW Connected app crash on my iPhone. Sounds like it's the phone rather than the app.
Have you deleted the app and re-loaded it? Sometimes that can fix issues.

You made the correct decision of ditching the gadget that did not work :

Good choice of keeping the other gadget that runs FAST

Dealer told me BMW sources from Google in iDrive 6+. I don't know how to verify, but I believe Google does license out maps.

That said, Full Screen Apple CarPlay has made Apple, Google and Waze apps much friendlier to use. See Link for thread on Full Screen CarPlay:

Yeah, I know what it is. I was kidding because the app is irrelevant to my enjoyment and practical use of the car.

Since when does it do remote start? I thought that was a feature planned for the next model year.

It does not. It starts ventilation and, if your car is equipped with auxiliary heating, than also heating.
