Mod time

Hello all

Did a couple of mods today
I have taken out fuse 218,sounds better inside the car
I'm sure my F15 40d had it
But sounds a lot louder in the 40i
Did take out fuse 203
Drove for about 30 mins in comfort mode
But I think I read ,On the forum I should have been in sports mode
Couldn't tell so put it back in
Will try again tomorrow
Also ordered a on K&N panel filter
Should be her in a few days
Like to keep Oem
Will report back later

Nice, good work. Would be keen to hear what difference the K&N filter makes.

And for exhaust mod, drive around in sport / sport plus for 10 minutes, keep the car running and pull fuse 👍🏽

Hello mate

I'll try to film it
Would be great if we could do before and after mods with sounds
Especially engine,exhaust etc

Do they still make pop off valves 😂

I clearly missed this somehow, but what does this accomplish?

See: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1452260

Both exhaust flaps remain open at all times including start up

Got round to adding the K&N panel filter today
Got to say,I think it's a must
The car seems sharper on acceleration
Throttle response is better
Definitely breathes better, the std filter Is so thick
And now you can hear those turbos spool
When driving
Relatively cheap improvement, but a must if you ask me
And looks all oem under the bonnet

Easy to install the filter? Price seems right if the above improvements are true.

I think a K&N filter has zero gains... not to be rude off course, but the only difference it makes is your right foot pressing harder on the gaspedal to hear/feel difference in performance/sound...

I used to use K&N filters on my na cars, but even then noticed oil depositing on the MAF ....and had one failure. I won't change it on as turbo as complex as ours. The filters did work well though.

Need to find a dry set of drop in performance filters.

Yep, no way it's worth the risk of contaminating the MAF and or turbo plus voiding your warranty. There would be about zero gain in performance but it may sound a tad "cooler".

Ok, thanks for these inputs, going to skip it if it is going to risk voiding warranty or contaminating the MAF.
