2 keys no display I heard from others that the display key is only in metrics. There's a video on Kies motorsport on the display key and it's functions that might help you with it's pros and cons.

Anyone know if there is anything specific option wise that triggers if you get a display key or not? Pick up my X3M next week and just wondered if I should expect one.

I got two fobs, both the same - so what is a display key?
looking at the answers so far, the folks who got display keys are all from the UK or Canada...

Run your vin in a decoder, it's option 3DS BMW Display Key if you have it.
It was a standard option on the F97/8 Competition models here in Canada.

I assume that should appear on the ordering sheet? I’ve just ordered a 2021 model in the UK and that option doesn’t appear. As my wife and I are going to one car when we get the X3M I’d prefer two normal keys.

Not necessarily, the order sheet typically lists options that were added and not every single standard items that comes with the car. If you can obtain the order guide from your dealer it will show all this.

This is an example from my 2020 vehicle.

3DS doesn't seem to appear as an option available in the UK, its not listed in any of the price lists for 20 or 21 models which is the bit that's confusing me as I thought I had seen some UK people who have it.

I haven't used my display key since driving the car home for the first time. It's too big and doesn't have any features (X3 doesn't have remote parking) that make it worth carrying around.

I agree, the novelty was cool at first - hey look at my fancy key as a conversation piece but it wore off after a few days. It's been powered off in my desk drawer since

... that was back in November

Thanks for that - although bit of a downer given my car has the Comfort Pack.

Agreed, with iDrive 7, it maybe would have made more sense (assuming it would control remote start etc. I was excited for it, but the only benefit I see is being able to check if the doors are locked or not.

You can check your doors with the BMW connected app which has more information as well as Remote 3D View so the key really is useless on this vehicle. I kind of wish BMW could provide smaller fobs in general. They seem bigger than all the other brands key fobs.

2 key fobs. I'm sure the dealer has it. If not, they'll get one for you. My M3 came with one. I called and they fedexed one a week later.
