x3m40 vs x3mxc- Thoughts after making the switch
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Donington Gray on Tartufo and Fineline (my opinion an amazing interior combo that almost feels like an x5)- Very "mature" Thoughts are--- ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I was heavily debating doing the upgrade, but for me it was slightly less about the money because the deal I was offered was killer and not THAT much more a month, but about living in NYC and dealing with our glorious roads. Reviews made me question if I'd be shaking all over, my coffee spilling and my head hurting. But the car, its a serious upgrade. Its not about the power , because its definitely there, and much more effortless than the m40, but the way the car feels. It feels like a much heavier faster m3, and less like a upgraded m40 (if that makes any sense). At the same time, it somehow feels much better built, more luxurious, and simply what many kept telling me... "A true M car is different". I kinda believed them. Now I understand the difference. The handling. The sensation. The exhaust: No crackle, although I'm not downshifting hard due to break-in. Feels actually kinda more removed and but still a bit deeper. I actually like it. The steering: Way more direct The handling: Vastly better. Seats: I like them a lot. Braking: This is the one area I'm still getting used to. The m40 the braking distance of pedal was much shorter. Here, you have more feel, but you have the actually press more to get them to work. Does anyone feel that way? Verdict: If the money allows, DO IT! You'll thank yourself for it. Its on a different level and I loved the m40. |

14% before any rebates. Stacked college grad, OL, loyalty, CCA, and incentives are good this month.

She absolutely loves it, even given the fact it does ride a bit firmer and the seats are also a bit firmer. She loves the styling and the performance is amazing to her. I feel the same way.
As for me, I am in the same boat. When we first test drove the X3MC we both thought it did not ride much firmer than the M40i, but have since come to change our minds on that with a bit more seat time. It is a bit former overall, but not to the point of being uncomfortable. That might be the result of both the suspension, 21 inch low profile tires (our M40i had the 19s) and the seats. We did not drive a base X3M with the 20's and standard seats. I would have to think that would feel a tad bit less firm. I drive a 2019 Volvo XC60 T6 Inscription with the Napa leather seats and that vehicle rides like a Cadillac in comparison. Much softer ride. Is it worth the $20K over the M40i (our 2018 M40i MSRP was $64K, this MSRP was $84K)? We say yes.

Haha, that's how I'd describe it too. I was always a fan of the M40i, its a great car, but the experience and feeling from the full M cannot even compare. The X3MC is really greater than the sum of its parts, there's a visceral feeling it gives that almost cannot be described...just has to be experienced! The steering, the chassis, the engine, the exhaust all work in harmony that creates an experience that the M40i doesn't have at all

The X3M brake pedal will be firmer due to having less servo assistance than the 40i which means more initial effort from your right foot but once on the brakes it's easier to modulate them.

Made the same switch from the M40i to the MC and oh my God it is incredible. The lease payment ended up being marginally more per month and I didn't even get the receive this month's incredible incentives. I'm actually bummed I didn't but I forget each and every time I press that red start button!

According to fuelly: For the X3 M40i, I was averaging 19.8 mpg for the 5,600 miles I owned it. For the X3MC, I have been averaging 17.4 mpg for the last 1,000 miles.
