Yea. I just put 90 miles, on LA road and highway which supposed to seat the spring very well by now.

I put a lot of time on Comfort mode. It is comfortable as promised by MSS.
At the height where I am, it is very comfortable.

I tried Sport and Sport Plus a bit, the highway that I was on is not smooth and flat. It is very good on the flat part of the highway. But, too stiff for LA road.

I think I lowered it too much. Haha.
Looks awesome. How much room left on the sleeves to go lower?

Another 5mm.
I haven't test how low it will be at the lowest setting, but I wouldn't go any lower since it is pretty close to riding the bump stop already.

How do you put it.
It is still softer than stock. But since the spring is softer than stock, it travel more during compression and rebound.
Which create a kick feeling on the rebound.

While the stock spring, have short travel since it is stiffer.

For overall comfort, it does what it promised.

It's not supposed to take a set.

The only way a Spring will take a set is when it gets compressed to solid height.

Meaning coils are almost touching each other's

@r33_RGSport

What you just explained means the Spring rate was lowered, at the same time the length is changed to adjust lower the height

interesting. are these linear springs (eibach?) with progressive helpers on the collar?

are you able to share spring rates and/or what is the height range of adjustability

thanks

I am not the manufacturer, so I don't have those spring rate data.
Besides, I don't think spring rate is obtainable on progressive spring.
Am I right Miko M

Design wise, it is progressive on a sleeve with Eibach short spring (not sure if it linear or progressive).

Usually spring rate is a recipe of suspension company, so they won't give out the data publicly.

Progressive Spring is usually multiple Rates

Liner spring Rate means only one rate, which means O.D off a Spring is not changing neither the pitch.

Short spring ( black ) that you have also has change in pitch which means dual rate ( progressive )

You can obtain rate on progressive Spring, it gets tricky when you do know the load heights.

It's more difficult then people think about making Springs and Specially design it right.

Thank you Miko M .
I used to work in coilover company 10+ years ago where we deal with linear spring.

I have encountered a lot of customers that asked me what are the spring rates on the linear spring that we used, which I can answer easily.
But, when people asked me what are the spring rate on the progressive, I got lost and confused on how to answer.
Because some got mad and says how come I don't know the spring rate. And when I tried to explain it like you do, they still don't believe me.

Am I also right where progressive spring rate is a secret sauce of someone's product?
Same as shock valving, I think.

You are welcome

It's because people don't understand how difficult is multiple rates on a Spring.

To develop the right rate so car can handle properly takes long time and they probably won't give you any numbers as far as that goes:

I saw the Springs you have have open ends and requires fixtures to check them.

I have load tester that can measure loads at any given height and also rates.

If you need Load or Rate measure let me know I have all the right equipment for that

Pictures off Load testers

Great thread, as a complete suspension noob if one was to purchase (for comfort element) how long would a pro install take? I don't have the skills whatsoever for this kind of job.

Also what are the warranty implications being on finance too.

Thanks

We're pleased with the suspension on our X3MCs, but thanks for sharing this thread and the information/science involved with the springs. Always wishing to learn, especially in the understanding of what allows our high performance vehicles to be able to perform as they do.

Warranty is always at risk when you do modification.
Literally to anything.

For a pro, it should take about 3-4 hours before alignment.

I am very well satisfied with the stock suspension too.
Just trying to help out others that want more comfort and/or lowering.

So far I found the car handles better at high speed turn than stock.
At 80mph high bank freeway connector, I can feel the car tilted against it much more at stock height and suspension.
With lowering, it stays flatter.
But further driving and testing need to be done.
Will hit the track in May when local track open up.
Other track are available, but they are over 1 hour away. And most not allowing SUV/SAV on the track.
