PBIR drag strip. Tuned X3MC faces a stock Macan Turbo. Yes, you should be able to predict the outcome...

Stock to stock that still shouldn't be much of a competition.

Lol Macan is laughably slow for the price. How does it not have 500+ HP in turbo trim?!

They don't think have an engine in their line up that can do it in v6 trim. The 2.9L they just swapped in is the same one used in the RS5/S6/S7/etc. It can only do 480-490 on an aftermarket 91oct tune. This engine is a good 50-60hp behind the S58.

What is laughable is how slow the Macan S is, at the same price as the X3M.

The Turbo, at what, $100k, is embarrassing.

I was so underwhelmed with the Macan S it sullied my view of Porsche.

Yes, it's the same 2.9L engine but it was inexplicably detuned in comparison to its Audi application. Actually, the detuned 2.9L is around 100 hp behind the Comp S58. I think Macan Turbo buyers don't really care. They just want that Porsche badge.

Macan's pricing strategy has always been a mystery. Everyone I know that has a Macan chose to lease it.

Their leasing strategy is even worse, no? I think you can get the F95 X5M lease cheaper than Macan Turbo.

Last year, Porsche offered a 39 month Macan lease with 5K miles annually with 61% residual value and .00290 MF (which is equivalent to 6.96% implied interest rate). The selling price and final capitalized cost would be dealer dependent.

Not very competitive.

It's their entry level SUV so they can price it as high as they want as long as its base price slots in below the Cayenne base price. It's a poor value based on performance but buyers that only care about the badge purchase them because it's the cheapest way to get into a Porsche SUV.

That is VAG-wide for sure.

MB is very similar.

This is hilarious, also X4M stock feels so slow to me now after running the e30 tune. It's MUCH faster than stock.

I know, man. That’s why I want to enjoy Stage 1 a bit before switching to e30, because there will be no going back.

Here is a nice side-by-side comparison by the Australian Caradvice. They punished the X3M for the ride quality but besides that, very clear win for the BMW.

The comparison for the Macan range is with the M40i not the X3MC...certainly so if straight-line performance is the test. Just because Porsche have high prices and little discount doesn't mean it's worth comparing the wrong cars.

A Macan Turbo will be close to the same 0-60 as an M40i. The Macan S is considerably slower. The Macan I drove with PASM suspension had excellent ride over rough roads. Good turn-in too. 14-way seats were great. In just about every other way the Macan not a match for an M40i, let alone an X3MC. Don't get me started on space in the back....

Wow. How embarrassing for Porsche and Porsche owners. I wonder what excuses they are making up on the Mecan forum
