Tint

What is the factory percentage of the privacy glass on 2022 X3M? Any issues with fading displays after tinting front windows to match rears on 2022 X3M or Competition variant?

I think it's 30% light transmission. I had my local shop match my rears and that's what they put in. Looks like a good match to my untrained eye.

I have had no issues with fading displays with tint in place. I have a 2020 X3M Base for reference with the analog looking display dials.

Yes, my info display is darker after tints.

Possibly related, I also had to turn off gesture control. After tinting, it seemed to get extra flakey. Not responding to normal gestures and then at other times being overly sensitive and responding to the slightest thing. I turned off gesture control.

My shop measured about 20% for the factory tint on the rear windows as well.

I added Xpel ceramic 70% to all the rear windows (wanted the heat rejection of the ceramic all around) and then used 20% ceramic on the fronts and the match looks perfect to me. Personally would have preferred to use 30% for better visibility but it looked too light, even against just the factory rear tint.

thats exactly what my shop said. rear windows are 20%, so i went with 70% prime xr at the back and 30% at the front (it is a bit lighter when looking at it dead on, but i much prefer the visibility; at an angle the difference is harder to discern and they blend in nicely).

turned that off but it’s not dark at all. Front windshield is at 70% which is basically clear. 30% for front windows is just enough for it to be a shade darker on the inside but enough privacy when looking from the outside IMO.

tint

there is no heat reduction in the factory rear tinted glass. I did the entire car on my 21
X3MC and it made a huge difference in heat reduction from my 2020 X3M which I only did the front windows and windshield

I got 35% all around. It doesn't match the rears but that was the look I was actually going for, as my state laws are 50% front / 35% rear. Give it that illusion its "legal"

Primary reason was for UV protection and heat reduction. When combined with a sunshade, I think it works extremely well.

I believe mine measured 17% on a meter. I used 15% and it is a very close match.
