Remote start

I missed having remote start on my car so i did some looking around and found this. Kind of pricey but it's got my interest. Anyone else?

Holy crap! $1,000CAD! Plus installation presumably...that's a chunk of change.

I'm interested, but this is highway robbery!

Also, wondering how this will work with comfort access:

Quote:
A spare vehicle key is required to be installed in the remote starter to allow the remote start to function.

Not to mention ease of theft? That sounds odd to me. I've never heard of remote starter requiring a spare key to be installed...

I can't believe an $80K car doesn't come with remote start. My dealer didn't tell me until after I signed all the papers. Said it wasn't allowed in Germany, even though this car is built in the US....

I've had ones that required it (an old one from Bulldog on a previous car).

That was an actual key burred in the dash so unless you knew it was there, it would be hard to steal. Not so sure with the comfort access.

It was a major disappointment for me as well. Though I have to admit it does warm up/cool down quickly compared to other cars I've owned.

I believe the X5 has it with ID7, but the X3 with ID7 (MY 2021) will not if I recall correctly.

Unfortunately they really have no incentive to add it.

Great car otherwise.
