I believe my car is a 9/19 build. It didn't show up needing a recall just last week during break-in service. Crossing fingers.....

Crap. 20-Nov-2019 production date on my X3M. I wonder if all cars in this range are subject to the issue or just select ones. As this isn't an actual recall not sure if we will get notified or if we will have to wait until our next service to find out if we are affected.

Thanks for the heads up.
My X3MC falls within those build dates as mine was an August build. Maybe a daft question but with this affect UK cars too? Thanks again. |

Basically bmw is waiting to see the extent before initiating a recall. They may try to blanket repair any that haven't been sold yet. Not sure since it'd be an extensive process. Also I doubt there's many pre 11/19 still around that haven't sold. Most of the 2020s out there were probably built after this. |

I wonder what changed between April and August... or is the bulletin maybe wrong and its for ALL X3M/X4M...
Having suffered connecting rod bearing failure in another vehicle (e92 M3)... I am not interested in going through that again... even if on warranty. I really hope the retrofit of parts required doesn't leave the engine running like some second hand motor. Every time I've had major work done on a new engine it sounded and felt a little different and clunkier after Nothing as good as original factory work.

Mine is in that timeframe as well. I was a Subaru owner in the days of failed bearings that were causing lots of owners rod knock failures and there were plenty of owners documenting issues and most between new and 20k miles. Has anyone had any issues with the S58 to date? I know this forum is a small sample size but you would think that a person or two would have had issues if this was a major problem.

Mine is June 06, 2019.
I've got kind of a clacking noise from the engine. But it looks like it comes from the High Pressure Pump, according to my bmw dealer. I've will bring in to the dealer this or next week to check and fix. Lets hope it does not come from the rod bearing. |
