I emailed Einhorn letting them of significant problems with their kit and my hesitancy to install it given that most of their customers (y'all) are having issues with it. I requested a refund, and I fully expect them to tell me to suck a lemon.

That's 300 dlls down the toilet. Might put it on the classifies for shipping costs...

You can return it!

Been going back and forth with Einhorn and showed them the multiple problems with NVH etc. They said you can return it if unused and undamaged, but there is a 20% restock fee. Dont care, rather loose 60 bucks instead of 300.

As soon as they send the return address it'll be gone. If you dont like yours and havent used it, return it and get some of your money back.

About to take delivery (fingers crossed) on an X3M Comp in the next few days. Just saw this thread (and various other forums/YouTube) and now my heart sank. [I am coming from an E46 M3 with KNOWN subframe cracks/failures thought the model line due to the forces of the rear diff on the subframe.] It looks like this is very common. A search of this topic for a TSB or other NHTSA bulletin is fruitless. My confidence is a bit shaken and I plan to discuss this upon delivery.

Any other new owners been given any information from the dealers on this issue? I will report back with any updates.

So I had the Einhorn diff bushing installed by a local Indy that I trust, though they don't have experience with this particular chassis. There is a very slight whine, but it doesn't bother me in the least. I can only notice it if the radio/music is off. I have poly diff bushings in my e46 which are way louder, and I honestly like the diff whine.

I did notice a clunk when going from on/off throttle at low speeds that I don't think was there before the bushing install, but I'm not sure. Could this be mitigated by the driveshaft spline loctite fix? Or is it just a side-effect of the bushing that is unavoidable?

A local tune shop that tunes lots of S58 powered vehicles and has tuned lots of FAST X3M and X4Ms told me that it could also be the driveshaft bearing and bolt? Do they mean diff bolt or is there a driveshaft bolt as well?

Any chance you can record it to get a rough idea of the whine?

I can try but I guarantee you won't be able to hear it with an iphone recording. I'll try tonight.

IMO barely noticable compared to the exhaust, turn signal click, and the suspension movement over the freeway expansion joints

Thank you, appreciate it. I can barely hear it, but you're right, its not the dodge charger demon whine I was expecting. Ugh, do I keep it? Do I return it?

Did your shop do anything extra while installing it? Maybe extra silicone lube or anything? I wonder if that would help.

No worries. As far I know they installed it as per the instructions included with the bushing.

For me it has been worth the peace of mind knowing that I can launch without worrying about breaking something.

From what i’ve read to fix the clunk you need to do the loctite fix. Seems like it’s more prevalent on appearing after replacing the bushing with a stiffer one.

From my research, any disturbance to the driveshaft when installing any of the fixes, will result in needing to do the locktite fix. I should be getting mine done end of the month and can report back afterwards.

Easiest way to confirm, on a level surface with the parking brake OFF, rock your car back and forth. If you hear clicking, the splines need loctite.

That makes sense. I've read that dropping the diff can create the driveshaft clunk issue. I'll do the rock test today to check.

Good to know, thanks for information as i just emailed them to do the same. The unicorn looks stout but i'm not launching enough to justify the NVH issues.

Mmm, interesting. Is there a TSB/SIB for this? Wonder if they'll cover it under warranty?

EDIT: based on this, it could but its a gigantic PITA

Exclamation Here's another option

I bought custom exhaust tips from these guys and their workmanship is absolutely top notch. I am gonna start conversations about this kit.
It is pricey but seems to be more logical than the solid einhorn.

Hi all,

Just purchased 2023 x4m comp and considering eibach springs for comfort here on NY roads, Saw this tread and since I'm also looking at Burger JB4, was curious how hard you guys are running your cars? Is the upgrade an eventuality with hard street driving, some launches.

Thanks in advance.

The SIB doesn't specifically call for our platform but this is the fix.

Took mine in today for the loctite fix. I had to share the BMW TI document with the service agent. They took the car in for the day to perform other checks, then later on came back with the below :-) The special glue will take six weeks to arrive, coming from Germany.

I know it's on here somewhere but can't find it so.
What's the torque spec on the diff bolt?
Thanks in advance...
