Mine is the same way. It hasn’t bothered me enough to make a special trip to the dealer but I’ll bring it up when I’m there for service. The car is a late November 2018 (my-19) build (Alpine White too).

Same here! I was talking to my dad about this a few days ago. On my car it isn't even aligned right (big gap on front) I have 1970 Volkswagen bus, it's gas cap cover is aligned perfectly to the mm on every side (metal, not cheap plastic). How is it possible that this $$$ BMW 2018 gas cap cover hasn't?

Let us know what they say. Hopefully not another "oh, that's supposed to be like that" or trying to blame the owner for causing the damage

2019 here and I just went out and checked and the gaps are uniform all around. It does sound like a QC issue on some cars. Hopefully the issue can be corrected with an adjustment.

My cover is not 100% aligned aswell. While the top edge is flush, the bottom edge sticks out by about 0.8-1.0mm. It has not bothered me that much though.
My car is alpine white as well. Perhaps it is a common issue, but is only really noticable on light colored cars? I think that the cap is made of plastic, so bending it probably wont help. Maybe it can be removed and reattachedat at a slightly different angle to be flush on all for sides. Any body know how to get that cap off?

If one focuses too much on every inconsistency (and all vehicles have them) you will drive yourself insane. My last car was a dark blue metallic paint Land Rover. It showed everything. I was laser focused on every spot and became obsessed with it. Finally I decided to get rid of it. Now I have a white BMW. Love the paint.

Having said that, OP has a misalignment beyond acceptable judging by normal people. |

I don't believe any adjustment will cure that problem. A new fuel door is the only cure. If that fuel door was fine when the vehicle was new, then BMW may have gotten a batch of defective plastic fuel doors. They may be fine when new, but something is causing them to deform over time.
