Service Pack UK

I opted to have the service pack which was £399.

I asked for it to be thrown in to sweeten the deal (along with an i8 for a long weekend).

The service intervals on the M40i seems to be 19k.

The service pack is either 36k miles or 3yrs.

Is it designed to have one or two services.

Given the oil service is £275 it would see a bit daft to pay advance and over the odds

I did call but spoke to someone who basically didn’t know and I couldn’t be bothered with another 15mins on hold.

Does anyone know the answer?
Thanks

Unless you do a lot of motorway miles then you should get two services out of it, and if you do less than 12k pa then you should get the first brake fluid change too.

It depends how many miles you do, my M40i is consistently saying first service will be at 18500 miles or 2 years so I would need to do over 12k miles a year to get in 2 services which I won't make so I will give it a miss as would only get 1 service out of it

If you're doing over 12k a year it probably would be worth it but book service early to get under 36k miles limit, you can normally get it done 1000 miles beforehand

These packs used to be a lot better, my previous 2012 E70 was £400 for 5 years and I got 3 services and 2 brake fluid changes out of it, the latest pack doesn't even include the 1st brake fluid change on X3

Since they cut it to 36000 miles I don't think it is worth it anymore. (I recall the days of 60,000 mile packs....)

If the intervals are 18-19k generally, then unless you do short journeys regularly they should remain at that interval. Short journeys would then push the car onto time based intervals (it will do this itself) and they are 2 years apart. So you are only likely to get 1 service and a brake fluid change from the pack.

If you get it "free" in the deal then take it, but I personally won't pay for it.

They don't even include the brake fluid change anymore just first 2 services

I only do about 10k a year
Most of my trips are short
I don't think it's worth me getting it
Unless they discount it

I nearly fell of my chair when I read the service cost.

Engine oil service with microfilter, air filter & spark plugs
£579.

I’m all for paying for what you get, but that is just extortionate.

It’ll be nice when the “value” servicing kicks in

Is that the second service?

Mine is at 9000 miles and 3700 miles to go until first service. I think I should be better get the service package as it will definitely cover the second service.

That price is for the 2nd service, they change the plugs and some filters on that one, It certainly sounds like it is going to be worth getting a pack at those intervals for you

What model do you have? I am on 7500 miles and it is showing 11000 miles to service (M40i)

Not in UK although is it anywhere with exception of M cars?

Generally in UK it is condition based but max around 18000 miles or 2 years whichever comes first

i decided in my last car 640 not to take out the service pack as at 12 k pa I calculated I would not need the second £600+ service.

Most of the 12 k was mixed (around 60/40%) biased towards urban.

I got to a month before it went back at 34k on the clock and ping service due ... I called and they quoted over £600 and as I was only having it for a month before it went back (contract hire so they would have charged me in full at dealer price) so I went to a BMW independent and got it for £140 including an invoice. then 1 week before it popped up for brake fluid. They wanted nearly £200 and back to the indi and spent £60...

on return they were fine with the invoices and no charges... of course if I had it I would have been covered.

I do wonder if these things can be preset.. my wife had a VW without plan (set to variable) and it was in for a service 4 times in three years. Next car (same model and engine) she paid £199 for 3 years service and in a three year period it asked for a server only twice !!

makes me wonder !

my opinion is don't go for it and use an independent BMW specialist.

Just to be sure - you have to order Service inclusive separately? Or is this something else. Because here in BG every BMW is sold with a 5 year Service inclusive (oil, fluids, filters, etc.) and now with my new car I saw that they have also included repair inclusive free of charge - basically 4 years of warranty.

Every country tends to be different, UK doesn't have one as standard on X3
