Pet cover for rear seats
Hey. For those pet lovers (dogs on my mind), who carry their love ones on the rear seats and HAVE LEATHER seats:
1. are you using any protection? 2. if yes, do you have a long time experiences with what you have? 3. please post a link or the name of the cover you are using Our car will arrive only in September, so plenty of time until then. We have a cocker spaniel , small mid-size or oversize small-size On a long drive she is in the back of our current car (cloth seats), but only on a blanket. So we´re looking for some cover to protect the leather seats. Just FYI - we are using Sleepypod harness for traveling. |

My dogs ride in the cargo area they seem happier there than in the open area of the rear seat - they are both larger dogs - over 30kg and @70 cm at the shoulder. I do have a seat cover for the back seat (gift) but it has stayed in the box. In Switzerland there are some very robust dog transport accessories.

My dog rides along for road trips in the back seats with a basic fleece blanket. For short trips to the vet or lake he just sits on the seats. He is about 60 lbs and there is no visible wear or toe nail scratches. Same with my 2011 X3. I wipe up the paw prints and vacuum the hair. I'm aware he should be properly restrained for safety.

BMW does offer this for the new x3. I had a friend who had one in his bmw and he liked it very much. It had two sides, one that was softer and another that was more like the picture here. This one is oem on EBay. Hope this helps.

Bought YesPests Oxford Bench seat cover, it fits good, not moving when using stabilizers. Used it once on our 3k km trip, wasn't really tested as the dog was behaving this time But looks durable.

We use this one for our two Labs, mostly when its wet/rainy outside. If its dry, they go in the back without the cover. Custom fit for the X3 and looks nice.

I used to do that in my last car, it works well. If you let them jump out, use a blanket or something to cover the bumper when they exit. The flat area of the bumper threshold (painted part near the opening) is VERY soft and it took me a while to notice that mine had accumulated indents (not scratches) from their paws.

We use this one for our 80lb doodle. Matches the cognac leather really well. https://www.amazon.com/Acare-Premium...rucks+and+SUVs |

BMW used to make a nice felt "bucket" for the previous generation X3. We've used it with our 90pd Shepherd and it has been great. It keeps the "Shepherd Glitter" contained and discourages her from coming up to the front seat.

My wife and I have both used this in several SUVs over the last few years. Nicely built, flexible in how you can use it and not badly priced.

Now with the 330iX xDrive GT being added to the stable, I'll have to figure out which fits best where. The old E53 one is in the F15 X5. I haven't even tried the M3 one to see if it fits the X3...doubtful.

I picked up the amazon recommended option for 25 bucks and its doing a good job.
Aesthetically speaking its mediocre compared to some others I've seen but it functions quite well. It keeps her from trying put her paws on the center console and the hammock design prevents her from falling in between the seats in the event of hard braking. Its waterproof which is great too. It doubles as a protective cover when I fold the seats down for my snowboard etc. The little pocket is a nice feature too; I keep gloves and an extra roll of poo-bags in there. It does have to be tucked in under the seat otherwise it and the pup will slide around a bit which is not so great. When tucked in properly it holds very well. |
