I believe so- the original factory battery in my 2012 X3 was standard lead acid.

(I replaced w/AGM....$210 at Pep Boys, and they did the code/registering too)

While you CAN use a standard battery, I would strongly advise going with an AGM battery as they are far superior to flooded batteries. BMWs are engineered to take good care of AGM batteries which negates the only real cons with them (sensitivity to over or under-charging). Even if you went with a flooded battery you would still need to have the car programmed for the new battery and type.
