New Engine Tuning Option Available
Something that has always bugged me about the BMW tuning platform is having proper software for making changes to the tune. MHD has some decent software for custom tuning that we use on a regular basis. End results are always very good, but the process is clunky. Then I found out that Ecutek has released support for all 2011+ N55 cars. If you guys aren't familiar with Ecutek they are a very well rounded tuning platform that is out of the UK (now owned by Cobb Tuning) that is used on many cars around the world. It is a great tuning platform.
Now for the best news, they just released the ability to unlock the 1726 ECU's through an OBD interface! No longer does the ECU have to be removed from the car, taken apart and hard flashed to break the encryption! Quite excited to try it out in the near future on my 2014 X3 M sport. |

EcuTek is an outstanding platform. I've got a 2006 MX-5 Miata with a supercharger. The tune was done by Dynotronics in Texas and emailed to me. I then uploaded the tune through my laptop using EcuTek software and dongle. Very easy to do; great results. I really like the ability to data log engine performance. I can mail the data logs to my tuner and receive an updated tune in a day or so. Great when adding or deleting bolt-on performance hardware.
