Finally saw X4 in person, not impressed
I have long been a defender of the X6 and X4 (owned a 2016 X6), I actually liked their styling compared to many people on these forums.
I was excited about the new X4 and future X4M but after seeing a 30i at the dealership this morning (silver, basic trim) I am not impressed at all. I know the M should have a nicer interior and exterior enhancements but the rear styling is just too awkward to me. Having said that, those saying it looks like a GLC coupe, it does NOT. The GLC looks like a bubble rear in person while the X4 doesn't. Maybe it's that long stretch down there don't like, for sure I don't like the spoiler as it looks squished onto the top. I am hoping the M does something different with it. Any others out there who like the X6 and are disappointed with the X4? |

Have held off seeing one until this month, for as a 1st Gen owner I have tried to love the 2nd gen but the rear. Hopefully I will be convinced when I see it in the flesh otherwise it’s Macan.

There are other cars that are uglier in the rear for sure. It didn't stop us from buying ours though... I liked the first gen rear a little more...

I'm another big fan of the 2nd gen X4. Luv the "lower-longer-wider" stance AND the new rear. Since the X4 body style stands out, I expected (and did) get a lot of looks and comments.
What surprised me was how many folks asked me "How do you like your new X6?" Not missing my 2015 X5 one bit. |

i have owned E83, E90, 2 F25 and F26. last month i trade it the F26 for G01.
I like the G02 but not enough to have it parked in my driveway lol I need the extra height in cargo space. Im not a fan of the X5 but I do love X6. It out of my range as of now. |

i think the new x4, especially the m40i edition is way better than the older version. The interior looks and feels more expensive.. even the way the door shuts closed tells you there were major improvements in the build/design. cabin is much quieter and the few extra inches in length and width make it feel more planted.. I went back and forth between a good leftover deal and the new model and it was obvious. It's a shame I can't push for the upcoming true x4m. Now that would be nice.. but not at close to $20k more..

I like the new rear. It took me a while longer to come around to the new roofline. It looks more like a big car instead the more "unique" giant Prius look of the previous gen. Now that I've had it for a while, and seeing previous gen X4s on the road, I concede that it's an overall improvement.
The way the '19 m40i drives vs my '16 35i is night and day though. The handling is so vastly improved, it's not even close. The interior is a massive improvement. It's disappointing that there's less headroom in the rear, but my 6+ foot friends still fit back there. They have stated that they have more legroom. |
