The mini spare

Had a flat in a national forest, no cell service.

The spare kit works pretty well. Lucky for us a town was about 30 miles away. The mini spares are only rated for about 50 miles of use.

Ordered a new tire but had to wait a few days. But of course they ordered the All Season 4 not the PS4S. Idiots. At least they got the size right.

From now on I’m taking a full size spare with me on major road trips. For the X3M that means switching to 255F / 295R so the circumferences match.

This is 2 years in a row I’ve had flats on road trips

This is why I converted my rear cargo area to the M-mobility kit instead & ditched the space saver spare seen here. Now, I will just have to plug the tire & easily refill it with air from the little M-mobility kit compressor kit. No extra weight, no extra space taken up back there & not headache about driving a pizza cutter / bike tire at only 55 mph. Sorry you keep getting flats man. There's a better way...

If you get a puncture in the treads this is a good idea. I’ve used tire plugs for years and they work great in most situations. If the puncture is in the sidewall or the tire comes off the bead or gets a bubble this will not work. I’m not worried about the 15 lbs the spare weighs. I can make that up by going on a diet 😉

What size full spare would you carry? I carried a full size on my S4 during trips from NJ to FL and Canada but that car had square setup.

I don't know about him but I just carry one of my oem 764M winter tires. I have two front tire sets and run a square set up in the winter

I would convert to 255/40R21 front, 295/35R21 rear, with the full size spare matching the 255 front. I would switch to the All Seasons 4 also. For winter road trips, I could use the 255/40R21 All Season 4 as a spare since the circumference perfectly matches the 255/45R20 winter tire set (which has Pirelli Scorpion winters).

I have a G80 M3 on order. My wife and I are still deciding whether we are going to keep the X3MC or not. With only 3 months left of summer driving, I'm not going to spend any more money on tires since I don't have any more road trips planned and I'm saving for my M3 But IF we keep the X3MC, I will be rockin' the 265/295 setup.

You know…the spare is giving me some old school Porsche vibes. Toss in some massive spacers and hotness ensues!
