Not true must of been a mis-understanding, I asked the guys at BM3tuning and none of them have mentioned this.
Lol you cant say it is not true if I have email from BM3tuning as well as Paul the tuner stating this from the last week of March.
I may may have spoken to someone who did not know, but what are the chances? And if i reached out to the company whoever is their representative I can confidently state what I am stating is indeed true based on whatever their reply to me was. Thats kind of what I can only go by. But you cant blatantly say that what I am saying is not true. I even sent out my DME software codes to BM3 to check if they able to flash it with the new software. And besides saying that the new BMW software is still not "cracked" I was told that there is no current support for 2020 M40i.
Im glad to get you the contacts and the email addresses I got replies for.

I can see how this is easily confusing and a little bit misleading. I think anyone reading this would most likely consider the present to be 2020 since we are already 1/4 way of the way through the year.
Also there should be some asterisk with a disclaimer on depending on what DME software version you have.

Agreed! I really hope they don't forget about cracking the ECU for us...

So there will be an unlock available for the new DME software. You do need to either ship out your DME or if you are local to a tuner they can unlock it. But it needs to be done with the physical DME being plugged in. So no OBD unlocks at this time. I dont have specifics. But I was told that companies are going to be releasing it very shortly, so that means its done on their end.
Once were unlocked then we should be able to tune with whatever tuner we want even with the flash tunes with OBD.
MHD is still in Beta. And BM3 told me earlier this week they dont know when they will support the 2020 M40i.

What you mean by BM3 don't know when they'll support the 2020? I thought they can tune it but first needs to unlock the DME? I know they don't have an unlock yet. But if we like you said go to a local tuner to unlock it, can you flash it than with BM3??

Tristatebm3 just emailed me about it today. What's the process of doing it? How long does it take? Does the ECU have to come out? Will you be able to flash it with the phone after it's been unlocked through the BM3 app??

Twisted tuning is able to unlock the DME for you as well. So thats good news, the require the actual DME in hand. So we would need to ship to them unless anyone is local.

They charge $100 for the unlock not sure how much Tristate charges. Keep us updated.

Yes sir $800 flash and unlock, about 2 hours for everything. You would be able to flash from your phone as well but need a bm3 agent. Unfortunately, those are on backorder due to covid19. We have someone in queens, jersey, long Island, yonkers, and bronx

I just sold my BM3 license because my 2020 has the update. While I was transferring it I asked PTF about my 2020 tune. I was told they are working on it. I will wait and see and have to buy it all over again.
