Featured on BIMMERPOST.com - Suspension is stiff, but definitely more compliant than the F80 (especially after I had the snow tires mounted). - Onboard technology is head and shoulders above the F80. Camera system and autonomous driving capabilities are awesome, though I'll probably not make much use of the latter. - Exhaust noise, off-the-line acceleration and shifting speed are not as good as the F80, but considering the size/weight, the X3MC is staggeringly fast! Here are some pics:

Congrats!
I had settled on my decision to spec Donnington on Black until seeing this! I was so torn between black Marino and Tartufo but decided on Black thinking it would wear better with kids...…..but now im drooling over this combo!
Enjoy it! Last edited by Koturbo; 12-23-2019 at 10:43 AM.. Reason: sp |

Curious, did your build sheet show the M Seat Belts? Just ordered mine this past week and it does show a separate line for the M seat belts.... doesn't mean the vehicle will arrive with them, but I made a point to the dealership that many previous builds did NOT have the M belts and I want them... already contemplating my angst if she arrives without. (same for the tires, requesting only the PS4S, but half are arriving with the Continentals...)

I don't see the CSC6P being an issue they are good tyres, the M belts is a funny one mine was built late Nov and has them.
Good looking combo on the paint/leather.

You just ruined it for me with your three bullet point statements as I was going to ditch my f80 for more space. Exhaust is pretty crappy in f80 so this is worse? Turbo lag acceleration and not as fast quick Dct shifts. Sigh .
Now I need to look at glc 63 and Stelvio quad ( have a totally trouble free 2019 ti sport today for my kids and it's fun to drive—test drove quad a while back and it was a beast. |

- exhaust isn't as loud inside the car. I haven't listened to it outside the car, but there are definitely less crackles and pops. - As good as torque converters are, there's no way they are as fast as DCT. That being said, it is FAR more usable around town. No jerking/shuttering like I used to get in the F80

Really awesome color combo.
I had a F80 M3 and went to a G05 X5. My wife wants my X5 now, so I am considering the X3M in Donnington Gray. Thanks for the post and insight. |

As for lag, the engine comes on max boost at around 2.5k and it doesn't stop from there so you have no lag in response on and off the throttle within that zone, what you do have is a gearbox that in auto likes to get into a high gear pretty quickly. So you will whilst pootling around town or cruising be below 2k rpm so the gearbox has to drop a gear or two but it's very quick to do this, clearly if you're in manual mode you'll be in the right gear for what you want to do. For me the engine is great because of this, you have a huge power band to play with when you're "on it" and that lovely "boosty" feeling when you're cruising and call for more as you get that initial turbo rush which I think is great. The M fettled ZF8 is more than up to the job, not as emotional as the MDCT but its not going to be, the shifts are whip crack fast in D3 or S3 and of course it's a much better gearbox if you let it swap the cogs than the DCT in auto mode, but it lacks the direct feel of MDCT when you take hold of the paddles yourself.

I ended up settling on D2 for most driving. D3 kept trying to keep it in the sweet spot longer than necessary, which is great for spirited driving or the mountains, but crappy for mileage just commuting or running errands. I’ll save S3 for when I want to decide the RPM, but generally if I wanted to drive in manual, I’d go drive my F80 instead.
