On the F80 you can change the temps of the heated seats, so I would guess it might be the same idea for the heated wheel?

There's no setting for that. It is either activated or not activated. If I could understand how the heating element, it might be possibly to mod it. ie reduce voltage to it to reduce heat.

Side note, my OBDLink LX came in.. plugged it in and it talks to bimmercode. Now to pay for the app.. pretty excited.

Am I reading this correctly that you can’t close the trunk with the key as standard? Is this a region specific setting? My last three non-BMWs in the UK have all had the ability to close the trunk with the key.
Must be region specific, I can close tailgate with the remote on my UK X3 although you have to keep the button held down until closed

It's easier to use one of the buttons on tailgate or on drivers door though or with comfort access there is a kick to close sensor under rear bumper

In Demo mode, I saw bimmercode has that option for the trunk. Haven't tried it yet for my X3. Going to activate that option when I get a chance.

Yes that function is definitely in BimmerCode. I coded it on mine and it works fine. Don't have to hold the button until the trunk closes either. To tell you the truth thought, since I coded it and made sure it worked, I have not bothered using it, using the button in the trunk instead.

I coded the trunk door and I have to press and hold until it closes all the way. Perhaps I selected the wrong code?

Can someone help me specifically on the rear hatch settings to code in beemercode?

I went into beemercode and flipped all to active.

However, I found no difference after the programming.

What is the the purpose of each of the 6-8 setting in that ECU and what do they do?

I was hoping that the same button to open the hatch on the remote would now also close the hatch.

Can you help decipher what each setting does?

Has anyone figured out which option(s) in expert mode would disable the annoying beeping sound while the hatch is closing?

What are you trying to do with the hatch? I had coded my FOB to close hatch upon long press.. but discovered it didn't work. Then I decided to set the FOB to open and close and try again.. and it worked. Sorry I don't have the names in front of me since my phone not around me.

I emailed Bimmercode support, and Stephen responded saying that he is currently working on adding the ability to code the other ECUs for the G01 X3.

On top op everything I've coded with BimmerCode, I've also set the exhaust valve to be open all the time using BimmerLink. Makes a nice difference to the exhaust tone!

FEM Body ECU will give us lots more options to code! Puddle lights in reverse is the one I want. I have that on my M140i and it's a nice feature.

So I assume exhaust flap coding is not possible with Bimmercode? You have to get bimmerlink just for this?

Is it possible to code a different drive setting as default using Bimmercode?

That's correct. It's worth it for the ability to read and clear error codes and fully custom gauges that you can set up too.

You can also use it to turn off ASD if you so wish.

I don't think it can be coded with anything but someone did claim that it can be done. I'm still waiting to see how they say they did it.

You can read trouble codes in ISTA+ for free and get detailed procedure info.

This is my understanding also. Bimmercode is for making permanent changes to the module settings while Bimmerlink is for temporary ‘live’ read out and overriding of certain signals. So Bimmerlink doesn’t actually code the flap setting, it just overrides the flap position signal while the app is active.

As far as I’ve researched no one has yet discovered how to permanently code a change to the flap behaviour. I suspect this is because the parameters for its activation are quite complex (engine temp, exhaust temp, ambient temp, cat temp, vacuum pressure, burn/mix, lambda etc). There won’t be simple universal “wake the neighbors” flap setting, it will be a case of working out which of those parameters need to be changed to give the right behavior without damaging the engine or cat.

So I did some testing of the video capabilities of the I video before bimmercoding the Video in Motion, Additional unknown codecs and Video via USB. Both Video via USB and Additional unknown codecs showed Unknown state.

So first I tried the USB. First video I tested was a mp4 format. It played fine on the screen. I tried another video and it played, but only could hear the audio (black screen) . 3rd video I couldn't play because I decided to place this into a sub directory and I rive couldn't see it. I was hoping I could use folders.. but I guess not.

Next was DVD player. It played no issue. However upon changing media player and back to DVD, it appeared to be stuck on showing BMW's DVD logo.

So I coded all 3 items as active. Now I can see the 2nd USB movie's video when before it was only audio. 👍
