I had this issue occasionally when stock...solution was to do a hard brake or two from any speed before doing the launch

But that’s annoying. Are there any fitting performance brake pads that would solve this?

I normally just double / triple pump it before mushing the gas pedal.

Brakes are pretty shit for the car. Basically 760i brakes. Caliper is huge pad is tiny. Need M brakes I think.

Wow that’s misleading. I would have thought a much bigger pad considering the size of the caliper.

Damn you BMW!

I have issues with LC after BM3 Stage 1. Brakes don’t hold the wheels anymore during the initial boosting.

X3m 395 x 36 mm disc, 4 Pot caliper

F10 M5 400 x 36 mm disc, 6 pot caliper with at least 50% larger pad surface area.

I think the M5 option would be an easy upgrade and not too expensive

So you think that F10 M5 brakes can be retrofitted in X3M?

I would need to get my hands on M5 Calipers but on the face of it looks pretty easy

I had the same problem with my M5. Had to burnish the pads/caliper.

Look for the procedure link in this thread.

Works great.

Thanks, this is indeed super helpful. Do I need to put new pads first or should I try to burnish the current ones?

Only 5000 miles but I ran a few laps on the PBIR and this really eats your pads. Brakes feel fine, it's just the launch control which is a problem now.

I would try the original pads first. Tough procedure because you have to know the road to be able to follow it exactly.

Did you need to send out your ECU? Or you just flashed it yourself?

When did you get your X3M delivered?

I’m trying to figure out how to forgo any type of bench flash if possible...

I get all the work done by a local BMW-specialized tuning shop. They are currently looking into upgrading the brakes. The advantage is that I can also do the scheduled BMW maintenance through them.
