Replacement brake Rotors

I like the drilled rotors but I'm tired of the imported junk that doesn't hold up. I'm probably going to plain rotors and considering Zimmerman or Brembo coated rotors. Any preference between the two?
If someone has a lead on high quality drilled rotors that are coated and will last without warping, I would be interested. Zimmerman sells a drilled rotor in Europe but not in NA. Too bad.

Zimmerman rotors will be just fine. A very popular option.

I Just put a set of Zimmerman rotors on about 2K miles ago, while that's not a lot of miles they are working perfectly and are sooo smooth. I paired them with Akebono ceramic pads. Far less dust than OEM but I do have to press the brake pedal just a bit harder to get the same stopping power as with the OEM. No regrets and would do it again.

Have to agree with Bilbo concerning the state of rotors after a harsh winter of road salt and dirt. I am one of those who see little difference between one brand of rotor and another. Aside from a (zinc) coating, they all boil down to a machined lump of cast iron. Some are drilled or slotted or slotted and drilled, but they all wear and rust in time.

Not sure how others make their decision on what brands of rotors/pads to buy. For me, I was away from home when I needed to have them replaced. Since the OEM rotors/pads lasted 80K miles, it was a long time since I looked into them and simply took the recommendations from this forum. I briefly did a search and found no significant diff in price between recommended brands and when the shop who did the job offered Zimmerman and either Akebono, EBC or Brembo, I asked him to use whichever pad brand he could get the soonest.
When new, everything is nice, I agree. However, after getting back home I did a short study on rotors and pads and am happy with his selection. The roughly 2K mile drive back home was great, but like when putting a new set of tires on, you feel like you have a new car. The jury is still out but no regrets at this point.

I have Centric Cryo-High Carbon Plain 125 Series Rotors and akebono ceramic pads on both front and back of my 2011 X3 35i. They work well and are holding up to the crap they put on the roads here in Maryland. No visible rust.

The cryo treatment is supposed to help reduce wear and warping.

Best price I found at the time was on tirerack.

Frozen Rotors also makes rotors for our X3's that are cryo treated.

Dont bother with drilled rotors unless all you care about is the look.
